I have lived and traveled widely enough to know that the 'must-see' destinations in any given place are only half of the equation. Spending time with locals is the other half of a fulfilling and memory-making experience. I have a great interest in meeting and learning from people of all different cultures and life experiences. I have always been close with my large, immediate family with whom I've traveled but am branching out as they have moved onto starting families of their own. I'm naturally an introvert but come from a very extroverted family. I have a very clear comfort zone that I am wanting to expand, in part, through travel.

I read extensively and am always open to new suggestions in music and books. These two things fill my heart with joy when much else cannot. I love to sing, dance and play music but am shy about performing! I also like old film classics, suspense, and both contemporary and period dramas.

I lived and worked in a cluster of cabins in the Grand Teton mountains for 5 months with a bunch of strangers and very few amenities. I enjoyed the company of a family of black bears, a lot of barely-touched hiking and backpacking trails, some horseback riding, ranch work, and heaps of snow! The Tetons and Greater Yellowstone area is one of the most rugged places on this planet when you step away from the main tourism areas. This is part of what has inspired me to Couchsurf - to get away from it all and see how people live!
