About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi! I’m Francesco. I live in Udine with my girlfriend Silvia.

I love meeting new people and discovering traditional dishes from around the world—food, wine, and beer are my absolute passions! If you send me a message, make sure to mention a food you love… it’s my way of knowing you actually read this 😄

I can host up to 2 people in a private room with a private bathroom, as long as you’re respectful and help keep the space clean.

I work quite a bit during the week, so I might not have much time to show you around—but if you’re here on a weekend, we’ll have more chances to hang out and share something good together.

Feel free to reach out with any questions—I’ll reply as soon as I can!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m on Couchsurfing because I believe real travel isn’t about ticking places off a list—it’s about sharing life with others, even for a short time. I love getting to know people beyond the surface, learning how they live, what they love, what they cook, how they see the world.

I’m also preparing for a future move to Canada, and this journey is my way of connecting with people, communities, and values that resonate with me. Couchsurfing feels like the most human way to do that.

Whether we share stories over dinner, cook something together, or just exchange a smile and a cup of tea—I’m here for it.

Interests

I’m passionate about everything that brings people together—food, wine, storytelling, and shared moments. I love exploring the world through taste, touch, and silence: cooking with what’s in the garden, discovering natural wines, giving or receiving a great massage, meditating by the sea.

I’m into sailing, slow travel, regenerative agriculture, and holistic wellbeing. I’ve recently fallen in love with bodywork and massage therapy, and I’m fascinated by how healing can happen through presence and connection.

I also enjoy photography, languages, writing, and long conversations that drift from philosophy to jokes to dreams. And I’ll never say no to a game of cards, a road trip playlist, or a good bottle shared at sunset.

Music, Movies, and Books

🎵 Music: I love soulful, atmospheric sounds—Bon Iver, Ludovico Einaudi, Florence + The Machine, and a good bit of funky old-school Italian music (Lucio Battisti forever!). When I cook, I often listen to jazz or Brazilian bossa nova. And when I drive: 90s rock hits, loud and proud.

🎬 Movies: I’m into introspective films and those that tell human stories in unexpected ways. Some favorites: Into the Wild, Call Me by Your Name, Breaking Bad, The Big Lebowski.

📚 Books: I’m drawn to books that blend philosophy, travel, and human emotion—like The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, or Frankestein by Mary Shelley and many many more. I also love graphic novels (yes, I’ve written three!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 18, I spent a year in rural Alberta, Canada—completely alone, far from home, and with very limited internet (it was 2004!). That silence, that space, that light… something in it changed me. It was the first time I truly met myself. I fell in love with Canada and its stillness, and that experience has been quietly shaping my life ever since.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can teach you how to taste wine like a sommelier, how to pair it with food, or even how to open a bottle with style 😉. I also love sharing everything I know about Italian food, culture, and language—and if you're curious, I can show you a few massage techniques (relaxing, sports, or myofascial)!

Learn: I'm always open to learning—from new recipes and healing practices to stories about how people live and think around the world. I’d especially love to deepen my understanding of holistic wellness and regenerative living.

Share: Great food, good wine, honest conversation, and a sense of humor. I’m happy to help with cooking, chores, fixing small things around the house, or simply sharing a quiet moment over coffee or tea.
