Hello, my name's Sophie! I'm a 27-year old Research Assistant from Brisbane, Australia. A few basic facts about me: - I'm an easy-going, friendly individual who loves connecting with others through good conversation - I'm a vegetarian - I have an Undergraduate degree in Psychology - I love rock climbing, and all things related to the outdoors - I'm currently working/travelling around Japan for a year on a working holiday visa. I was bitten by the travel bug at a very early age; I love exploring new places, both within my own country and overseas, and get such a thrill out of discovering the quirks and idiosyncrasies of different cultures.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I think that Couchsurfing would be a great way to connect with new people, be exposed to different perspectives and world views, and gain insight into the lives of locals.
Music, Movies, and Books
Favourite music: My music interests are varied, and I like almost all genres. Some of my favourite artists are Alt-J, Foals, Silversun Pickups, The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Laura Marling, Outkast, and The Dandy Warhols. Favourite movies: Some of my all-time favourite films are Life is Beautiful, Into the Wild, Amelie, The Untouchables, and Django Unchained. I'm also a sucker for any documentary, especially those focusing on food, nature, environmental issues, and fast fashion. Favourite books: I'm not a voracious reader, but a few of my favourite books are The Portrait of Dorian Gray, Freakonomics, The Life of Pi, Radical Acceptance, and The Power of Habit.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Last year, I climbed up the face of a 270-metre cliff in the Blue Mountains, Australia. It took my climbing partner and I four hours to reach the top, but it was worth it!
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I love cooking, and am happy to show my Couchsurfing hosts just how tasty vegetarian food can be! Learn: Anything! I'd love to learn how to cook traditional Japanese food. I'd also love to improve my Japanese language skills. Share: Laughter, connection, good company, and travel stories. That's what Couchsurfing is all about, right?
