My name is Sophie, I'm 20 years old and from Germany. I'm currently living in Passau in South-Eastern Germany for my studies. I'm originally from Leipzig in Eastern Germany and therefore commuting between these two a few times a month. After my graduation from High School in 2015 I decided to go to the US for one year to experience a new culture, make new friends and get to know the American way of life. I used to live in Irvinton, NY working as an au pair. I am an open-minded person and interested in meeting new people and getting to know new and different cultures. Also I am totally unprejudiced and always open to learning new things. I studied English, French and Italian at a language school in Germany and am currently learning Spanish as well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I love traveling and the fact of having the great opportunity of meeting new people on my travels. I really like sharing my experiences and getting inspired by other couchsurfers as well as the stories they have to tell or just hanging out.

Interests

I am interested in music, I also used to sing in the radio choir in Leipzig, the city I was born and have grown up. Besides I am interested in learning new languages and getting to know new people. At High School, I participated in student exchanges in Italy, France, Slovakia and Israel. I am a very sporty person, too, as sport has always been part of my life and is important to me. I also love reading and it has always been essential for me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am basically very open to any music genres. I like listening to chart music, pop, electronic music, latin music etc. Concerning movies and books, I love all the Harry Potter books and movies a lot, but also almost all books from John Green and several German authors.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent this amazing au pair year in NY in the United States and got to travel to Canada, México, Belize, Guatemala, throughout the US and to the Bahamas during my year which was unbelievably enriching and the best thing I could have possibly done.
