About Me

UPDATE:

I’m older now but still giving high fives. I live with my partner Emily and 2 corgi’s. Happy to start taking requests again. Being a dog lover is a must because the corgi’s like to roam and like to be near people. If you don’t like dogs please don’t request. Extra points if you mention you love dogs in your request.

CURRENT MISSION

I'm back at home now so you have to come get your high five :P

PAST MISSION

To give 7+ billion high fives. One for everyone.

ABOUT ME

I think as I've gotten older I realise that everyone wants the same things but the way people try and get them is different. I like making people laugh because that makes me laugh. I like doing crazy things because I think it inspires others to do crazy things. I like rationale and reasoning but I also like the feeling that you get when you meet someone that makes you think differently.

PHILOSOPHY

I feel like I need to write a "Jake's Philosophy in a nutshell' booklet that I can attach to this. At the bottom line - I love people. I often find life is very surprising in both good and odd ways. I want the least suffering for the most people. And a few opportunities in life to laugh until I cry. People that know me will tell you that I'll happily have a big rant about everything I feel, but I'm not very good at putting it on paper. I think the world is vastly complex and often unforgiving and the best way I can combat that is to try and be the best person that I can be to everyone I meet and share as much as I have learnt.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I try to share what I know and learn as much as I can. Promote good ideas. Make people laugh.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I like it when you come home from being out on the town and whoever your staying with sits up with you and talks about the world until you both fall asleep.

Interests

I like new toothbrushes, showers that are as heavy as waterfalls, jeans that fit properly, really loud music, coffee that's strong, and smiles from random people in the street. I love it when you meet someone and after ten minutes of talking to them you've moved past everything and your onto the meaning of life. I find getting to know people is the best way of getting to know myself.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not sure how to explain this but I really like watching one of those movies that you have super low expectations of, but you watch it at the right moment without expectations and it just blows you away.

One of my favourite things is listening to music really loudly while driving in a car or on my ipod at the gym.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I met a girl once at a music festival while I was standing on top of a tipped over rubbish bin, I let her stand on it with me so we could see the band. We chatted for a while and then we kissed. It sounds lame, but it was one of those random movie moments that I like to remember.

I love and hate the feeling when you realise its 5.30 in the morning and the club is closing and your feet hurt. If you've had this experience you'll know what I mean.

I've seen some nice sunsets, jumped out of a plane, crashed a few cars at high speed and I've eaten some really nice laksa but all of these events pale in comparison to some of those 'Ah-ha' moments you have when you come to understand something properly or someone says something that represents exactly how you feel. A lot of the awestruck moments of my life have been because of things other people do not things I've seen or done.
