My name is Frederick Stefan Cunliffe, I am a retired County Bus Driver from Big Island, currently living
in Tokyo with my Japanese wife Akiko.
We are looking to purchase a sailboat and lease a slip near the airport in Oahu.
Winters in Japan are a little harsh, so we thought it would be best to spend the
Winter months sailing around the various islands of Hawaii.
I will be arriving alone in Oahu in mid July to look at various sailboats and boat slips there.
Meanwhile, it would be great to meet interesting folks in and around Honolulu
and spend some time sharing experiences and ideas.
In my early years, we lived between Cape Cod, Massachusetts in the summer and
St. Petersburg, Florida in the winter. My Sister became a professional Ballerina and
moved to Texas to join the Houston Ballet while I was in College in New Hampshire.
So my summer vacations were spent in Houston where taxi driving allowed me to cover
tuition fees. Later working as an accountant for various firms led me to become involved
in FOREX, that is foreign currency exchange trading. This led me to various parts of the
world where I ultimately got lost on a train west of Tokyo and met my wife Akiko returning from
her university. In 2013 my wife and I arrived in Hilo, Hawaii with the thought of retiring,
but idleness led to my wife getting a job with Hilo Medical Center and I became a Hawaii
County Bus driver. Things were great until COVID so we headed back to Japan.
We have a nice house south of Tokyo near a marina with plenty of accommodations.
Perhaps, folks we interact with in Oahu would like to visit us in Japan at some point.
We brought our Vonage phone box to Tokyo which has allowed
us to keep our Hawaiian phone number. It does not allow for texting,
