About Me

Hey, my name is Steffen and as most of you I love to travel. The most interesting thing is to meet people from all over the world and have some fun time. I am pretty much down-to-earth, when it comes to my needs. Gimme a backpack, pack of smokes and a bottle of wine and I will be happy to roam the earth.
Besides traveling I am a huge fan of music, merely experimental Rock-music, I play in such a band myself.
If you would ask me what I enjoy most on a weekend-evening I'd tell that I love sitting around with my friends in the kitchen having some fun time, but put some electro-swing on and we'll start dancing ;-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As I said I study humans interaction with their habitat, so what could be better to dive into it than sleeping on someones couch, who wants to show you his life and culture. For me CS is about cultural exchange and intercultural communication and connection rather than a cheap bed. There is so much to learn from the people out there from people all around the world. And in the end it often shows that even if you are totally different culture-wise everyone is the same and has the same needs.

Interests

I am a Human Geographer, and I love to read maps and see how humans interact with their habitat.
In my leisure time I totally dive into Star Wars snd soak everything up, like a sponge, especially the books.
Reading in general is something I enjoy, if it is fiction or non-ficticion, I dont care.
One of my favorite writers are Lovecraft and Cornwell.
The Bass is my instrument, I live it and I look forward to play bass whenever I can.
My life is all about travelling, music and nerdy stuff and I try to get into such scenes wherever I go.
I would put my top 5 movies here, but I alway forget what I liked most so skip that. But Clerks &Clerks 2 are one of my alltime favorites.

Another thing I totally enjoy is learning about human evolution and especially about Homo Neanderthalensis, I am kinda obsessed with them. If I could meet one in person.... would be the best day in my life, no doubt.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I should write those things down when they happen.
It is maybe not that amazing but having lunch with Montenegrin construction workers on a construction site while the world was drowning in pouring rain outsite, was pretty cool. Especially when every communication was non-verbal because I dont speak Montenegrin.

Teach, Learn, Share

Something I learned was:
Never be afraid to open doors, sometimes they are locked, but sometimes there is a galaxy of cool stuff behind them.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am an easy guest and pretty much satisfied with the minimum you can offer me, when it comes to accommodation. I like to interact with my host a lot. Sometimes I cooked at place, sometimes I just brought some beer and some good talks, hopefully they where good.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Egypt, England, Faroe Islands, Hungary, Iceland, Japan, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
