À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to love everyone, do good, and live boldly and intentionally.

ABOUT ME

I'm a single guy whose two sons are grown and out on their own. I love to travel both in the US and in Europe. I backpack and canoe around the US and love to make trips to Europe to experience new cultures, foods, and to visit art museums. I've been to Paris 4 times; London twice, Florence and Rome three times; Madrid once, Barcelona once, and had my first trip to Guatemala in Jan. 2010 and will be returning there this winter.

PHILOSOPHY

I am here to love everyone I can, to do as much good on this earth as I can while I am here, and to choose to live my life rather than just let my life happen.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My friend Erica suggested I join because she knows I love to travel, and in the US I often stay with friends.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have friends around the country who let me stay with them, and several of them have stayed at my house for short trips as well. In July 2008 I spent a week with friends in Colorado and a week with a friend in Ohio. In March 2008, I had three friends stay with me, and in May 2008 I had relatives of a friend stay in my spare room. In November 2008, I hosted Mauro, a native Brazilian, who was biking from Iowa City, Iowa, USA, to Santa Cruz, Brazil. It was a great experience. In March 2009 I hosted four Cottey alums, and In May 2009, hosted friends and family of a student for commencement. I had seven stay with me in late March '10. Currently have four coming to stay in April 11 and three in May 11.

Hard to narrow it to one. Life is generally pretty amazing.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I'm a pretty good writer and photographer. I've won a couple of awards for design, writing, and promotional work. Not sure I'd consider myself an expert in any of them though.

I'd like to become fluent in French. I had it in college and have forgotten most of it. I study hard before I travel overseas and can make do with some "tourist" French, but wish I could keep practicing year round and become more proficient.
