About Me

In a nutshell, sporty, foody and earthy. Love to be outside whether just enjoying nature or mountain biking, running, surfing or mountaineering. I am a maths/physics teacher and outdoor instructor by profession. I also love music in all forms especially live, I am mostly vegetarian and try to eat as much as possible from my own organic garden. Friends and family fill the rest of my thoughts and time. So that's me in a paragraph!

Have been developing my place as more sustainable source of food and solar energy and have taken a career break from teaching to kick start this project as well as to travel.

I am single, adventurous and hopefully a good laugh to be around. Enjoy company and especially while traveling.

I take great care of my own home and I will do the same with yours. I am more likely to cook a fine meal with a quiet beer and get up the next day to run or do yoga than than to go out clubbing. (but never say never of course....)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In 2015 I became a Wwoof host for organic gardeners who came from all over the world. Apart from working hard and having a great laugh here I saw the possibilities of this type of travel and I am setting off in Winter to be a Wwoofer volunteer myself and hopefully put back some energy into this great movement, (please also see my references on wwoof.uk, Tullyquilly House)

Interests

Running (not on concrete when possible), biking esp MTB, surfing. Organic gardening, renewable energy, cooking for those around me. Live music, planting and maintaining native woodland, kite surfing, stepping out of my comfort zone.

Music, Movies, and Books

latest listens-Josh Ritter, Muse, Sekou Keita, Maria Callas, Mumford. Love my local venue and support live Nashville/singer songwriter stuff.

Reading: Guy Grieve, Call of the Wild and biographies.

Movies. Feck where to start!?: Tarantino-any, The Life Aquatic and other Wes Anderson works of hilarious genius. Waking Ned. Not sci-fi, not horror.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swam across an Irish Sea Lough

I know it says one but..... slept at 3000m and minus ten degrees on top of a remote Turkish peak reached only by rock climbing followed by descent the day to sea level and plus 35 degrees!

Built a (more) sustainable life on a farm!

Teach, Learn, Share

Language of course! I am good chef-especially with fresh veg from the market.
Good with any basic construction and house maintenance.
Outdoor instructor.......
Teach you an Irish song
