About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet and help build a community of world travelers who can share and learn from each other.

ABOUT ME

I love to travel and love the idea of CS and the community that has developed! I can't wait to become more a part of it. I'm an amateur photographer hoping to gain more experience in that area, I love to write, meet all kinds of people, time with family, and friends. I'm also on facebook quite a bit as I love social networking. I am entering grad school (Communication) this fall and I started massage school as well in May. So yes, I'm extremely busy!
Favorite quote - “Don’t ask yourself what the world needs, ask yourself what makes you come alive, then go do that, because the world needs people who have come alive.”
~Howard Thurman

PHILOSOPHY

The golden rule... love others as you would love yourself. Listen, and learn. Share and be known... be lavish with your love.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm still relatively new at this so haven't done much participating yet, but I have stayed on one person's couch and hope to do more of this as I travel or as people travel to my area.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met my first couchsurfer in Louisville in Feb 09 and we had a great time. I actually set it up pretty last minute, so I was glad she responded and it worked out. She had a great place and was really friendly, and I was so glad we both had a good time together. Looking forward to more of these good times!

Interests

Creative expression, learning about different cultures, inspiring people, being paid to travel/teach somehow, adventure, laughter, playing pool, disc golfing, recreational swimming, bonfires, nature, new places and people, caring for the environment, storytelling, massage, photography, the art of communication...

Music, Movies, and Books

Books - Twilight series, JD Robb, lots of fiction, CS Lewis, Elizabeth Royte, music - all kinds, favorite band currently is My Dear Disco (from Ann Arbor, Michigan too!) and Lifehouse. Movies - some favorites are 310 to Yuma, Heat, Enemy of the State, The Incredibles, Wall-e, The Neverending Story, The Breakfast Club, Run Lola Run, Into the Wild.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Oooh that's hard, I have had a lot of great opportunities. I'd say the most amazing was watching my friends run with the bulls in Pamplona in the summer of 2007. I couldn't run (bad knee @ the time) but we were in the best position for watching and the energy and movement of the people and bulls was indescribable. Also jumping in to a pool in the rocks fully clothed at the top of Rainbow Falls in Hawai'i was fun and very memorable...

Teach, Learn, Share

I know and understand and can share about the world of Marketing. I have a love/hate relationship with it (love for when it's used in a good way) and have worked for a few years in it. I am fascinated by social networking, such as the CS community and facebook. I'm a few months from being certified in massage therapy - and I know a lot about the art of communication that I would love to share also. I'm hoping to be a lifetime student.
I would love to learn how to travel cheaply around the world, i.e. cheap plane tickets other than the standard good deal websites, and learn photography (better than I know now).
