About Me

CURRENT MISSION

learning human

ABOUT ME

I've been told time and again that I am a friendly, happy, easygoing human being who loves to make people laugh and feel comfortable. I can only hope it's true! =)

I enjoy exploring all manner of spaces with friends new and old, walking and hiking beautiful parks, thrifting for clothing and music and board games, going to intimate venues to hear new/young bands playing live music, finding fantastic inexpensive eats here and there, talking over really good coffee in the morning, and just taking in the arts (dance, theatre, galleries).

I volunteered at an orphanage in Mexico for special needs kids for several years and still count that as the most transforming experience of my life. I have a lot of love to offer other human beings.

I wear my heart on my sleeve. I speak openly and honestly, but always try to make sure it's also kindly and carefully. I'm enthusiastic and easily awed. =)

PHILOSOPHY

Find something beautiful and meaningful today, and share it with someone.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I donated. I help visitors to Vancouver who need orientation. I have done a bit of surfing. I'm hoping to host again soon.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A couple years ago my friend and I went to Belize, and then Africa just to go about doing good: when we met people in our travels who needed help, we'd help them. We lived on $2 a day! The trip ended with me tracking down a local friend in Burkina Faso and enjoying time with him and his family.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an excellent English student (though how that will help you, I have no idea); I can recognize scores of national flags and soccer badges; I have played over 500 board games; I have lots of great travelling stories; I can sing you an old hymn in a Zulu accent; I can look you in the eye and tell you what I appreciate about you; I know a bunch of things about a whole bunch of things; I'm naturally curious and sometimes ask lots of questions...which will no doubt make you feel incredibly interesting, because I'm incredibly interested; I can talk candidly and openly about everything I know and everything I've learned about life; I can share the wisdom I have, the proverbs I've reflected on.

That's what I have to give. =)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Smiles, stories (my own, or some of the folk tales of the Secwepemc first nation), gentle enthusiasm.

I have a car when traveling to Portland, so I can whisk us away for thrifting, hiking, or parking and wandering neighborhoods.
