CURRENT MISSION Stopping over for 2 days in Seoul on my way to Thailand where I'll be updating a guidebook. ABOUT ME I'm a travel writer so I get to travel a lot even though I'm a mom of two kids (ages 12 and 15) - I've visited around 40 countries and I still feel like I've only scratched the world's surface. I lived in French Polynesia for 15 years but recently moved to Portland Oregon so my kids could go to high school there and get a more diverse education. PHILOSOPHY Live light, travel light, be the light.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING My house is small and with my two kids and husband our lives are pretty busy at home so I'd only rarely be available for hosting and meet-ups at home. Abroad I'm interested in meeting people and sometimes staying with people although when I'm working I usually have to stay in a hotel. COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE I have only vicarious experience so far! I've met local couchsurfing "cliques" on the road and they are always a fun group to get in with. My family's pearl farm (Kamoka) in French Polynesia has hosted lots of couch surfers and I have some friends who host too and have loved the experience.
Music, Movies, and Books
Haruki Murakami, Kurt Vonnegut . . . I love memoirs like the Glass Castle, non-fiction like Zeitoun and Born to Run. Too many to list. I'm a reader and love books. I love all music from Bollywood to the Black Keys - anything I can dance too or that makes me think and I love going to see live shows. I'm a bit behind on movies since I lived on a remote island for so long - movies I've seen recently that I really liked include "District 9," "Outsourced" and "Avatar."
One Amazing Thing I've Done
My whole life is amazing. I can't believe I'm living it sometimes.
Teach, Learn, Share
I used to be an English teacher so I'm a good coach for language and writing.
My Interests
I love the outdoors, hiking, swimming, diving, skiing but I also love dancing, singing and anything fun, social and cultural. I'm super easy going and I love trying local food, learning languages and meeting new people.
