About Me
CURRENTLY IN HONDURAS 🇭🇳
Hola! Shalom! Hello! Salut!
I’m Tamir, originally from a little country in the heart of Central America - Honduras! My Israeli father fell in love with my Honduran mom at their workplace - and I’m the result!
I left my country when I was 18 to follow my dreams outside. Now I’m studying a masters degree in 🇮🇱
I love traveling to authentic places that show how the natives live - their food, holidays, culture, “hidden spots,” and daily routine. I try to observe a destination from the locals’ eyes - I believe that’s the difference between a Tourist and a Traveler!
Hate describing myself - I never know what to say. Maybe a bit shy at the beginning and more social with the flow? I’ll simply let you find out yourself, but my friends think I’m crazy and spontaneous for doing CS and “backpacker stuff.” Others claim that I’m a geography nerd 🤓 🌎. I love asking/receiving questions, languages, cuisine, religions/beliefs, world facts, capital cities, maps, controversial topics, etc - so get ready to talk :)
Please read my few, yet VERY special reviews which can describe me from an outsider’s perspective.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to get out of my comfort zone and experience authentic hospitality, “mi casa es su casa,” my home is your home - with the hope that I’ll give travelers back in the future.
Interests
Open minded people, authentic cuisine, local tips, “hidden spots,” photography, geography, and foreign languages.
Music, Movies, and Books
According to Spotify (in this order): French pop, Israeli rock, Italian indie, Latin rock, Bachata, and little bit of Arab artists. As you can see, very mixed.
My favorite movie: “El Perfume” The Perfume. I like the curious/malefic story, and the movie visually takes you back in time - showing how France looked like in the 1780s.
Books: Side by Side ( 🇮🇱/🇵🇸),Persepolis, There’s no planet B, The Crisis Caravan: What’s wrong with Humanitarian Aid... Any books and films related to controversy...
I also enjoy the “Acción Poética” movement - painting poetry and short quotes on walls/murals all over Latin America.
I LOVE LANGUAGES AND WANNA CATCH THEM ALL
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
- I volunteer for the African Refugee Development Center in Tel Aviv.
- Worked some time in the agritourism sector of Tuscany, Italy. I can teach you the correct way of tasting wine 🍷
- Last year I took a 30 hour bus from Choluteca, Honduras all the way to La Ciudad de Panama! 🇭🇳 🇵🇦
- I am a HONDURAN working at the NEPALESE Embassy in ISRAEL, weird right? 🤪
