Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Im a bit of a hippy and on a budget so am looking for some friendly folk who are keen to house me in exchange for quality chat and lots of laughs. This is my first time travelling around solo and i want to make the most of it whilst meeting and interacting with the locals.

I worked as a sea kayak guide for the last 2 summers and was recommended couch surfing by many of my European clients who highly rated it.

Im big fan of old school jams of all kinds, ranging from Abba, to Rolling Stones, to Janis Joplin, Fleetwood mac, Talking Heads, Nirvana, Joan Jett, etc

I love all kinds of movies but am always down for a good documentary, especially if its involving our beautiful planet ❤🌴

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In an attempt to fight single use plastics back home in New Zealand, a friend and myself made it a goal to convince a few bars and restaurants around Christchurch to stop using single-use plastic straws and to start embracing either reusable or biodegradable ones instead. In our action, we managed to convince 47 major bars and restaurants around the country to move away from single use straws. This then motivated other places to join and to do the same elsewhere. It felt super amazing afterwards to know that we had played a role in starting that movement here in NZ.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a degree in sustainability and outdoor education so can provide quality chats around climate change and outdoor pursuits such as kayaking or hiking.

I also dabble with musical instruments and can play guitar as well as the drums and am always down for a wee jam session or muck around 👌

What I Can Share with Hosts

Im not the greatest cook in the world but its always hilarious to watch me try to make something, so ill cook you a grand meal if you are keen 😂 however, i worked in a bar for 3 years so i can make alcoholic beverages a lot better 👌

I have been born and raised in NZ and know most of the country like the back of my hand, i can offer tips and beautiful spots to visit for those planning a trip to NZ in the future 😊
