ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Ted Kim from South Korea! I’ve been teaching English for several years, and I’m currently working as a school counseling teacher. I hold a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. 🙆🏻♂️
In my undergraduate years, I majored in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and Psychology. I am deeply passionate about helping people grow and create a brighter future. This passion led me to pursue graduate studies in Counseling Psychology after completing my bachelor’s degree.
Currently, I work as a school psychologist, primarily supporting primary school children in their journey to learn and grow in healthy ways.
PHILOSOPHY
Here and Now
For me, living in the moment with mindfulness is essential. I believe in embracing life one moment at a time and finding joy in the present.
Resisting Consumerism, Seeking Authenticity
I dream of a life that resists consumerism and seeks authentic spirituality in everyday moments. True fulfillment, I believe, comes not from material possessions but from meaningful connections, inner peace, and living with purpose.
A Warm Heart for the World
I aspire to become a person who embraces the world with a warm and compassionate heart. To me, kindness and empathy are the foundations for creating a better world, where we can lift each other up and find deeper meaning in life.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For me, spirituality is all about connection. It’s about finding a moment to breathe amidst the chaos of daily life, reconnecting with my inner voice, and opening my heart to connect warmly with others. It’s also about feeling a deep bond with the world around us and living as part of a larger community.
That’s why traveling holds a special meaning for me. It’s not just about visiting tourist spots—it’s about living in new places, immersing myself in their culture, and feeling the heartbeat of the people there. Most importantly, it’s about meeting others, forming genuine connections, and growing together through shared experiences.
CouchSurfing perfectly aligns with this philosophy. It’s more than just a way to travel—it’s a way to connect, share, and create something meaningful with others around the world.
Interests
I’m passionate about volunteering, especially when it comes to supporting children in need. I believe in the power of creating shared value to build a better and brighter future for everyone.
I’m deeply interested in religions and spirituality. While I don’t follow a specific religion, I find learning about different beliefs and practices fascinating. This curiosity also extends to how people live around the world, as I love sharing these insights with my students to broaden their perspectives.
In my free time, I enjoy exploring mindfulness, meditation, and the connections between people from all walks of life. Whether through meaningful conversations or learning new things, I believe these experiences help us grow together.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I started teaching English at just 16, which marked the beginning of my journey in education. In March 2022, I transitioned to becoming a public school counseling teacher. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of making a difference in the lives of many children by providing crisis intervention services, helping endangered kids navigate through difficult times and find safety and support.
Teach, Learn, Share
I’ve taught English and basic psychology courses, and I enjoy sharing knowledge in an engaging and meaningful way. I also know how to read tarot cards 🔮 and love discussing the symbolic and intuitive insights they can offer.
In addition, I’m passionate about comparative religion, mindfulness, meditation, and spiritual practice. These aren’t just abstract ideas for me—they’re ways to connect with ourselves and the world around us. Whether you’re curious about different spiritual traditions, interested in exploring mindfulness practices, or simply want to share thoughts on how we find meaning in life, I’d love to exchange ideas and experiences with you.
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you’re interested in language exchange, I’d be happy to share my experience as a government-licensed English teacher and counselor in Korea. Beyond that, I can guide mindfulness-based meditation practices to help you find a moment of calm amidst your day.
I also enjoy reading tarot cards 🔮—a fun way to explore your personal compass and reflect on life’s possibilities. Most importantly, I’d love to share meaningful conversations where we can connect, empathize, and create a sense of comfort and belonging together.
