ABOUT ME

It's hard to fit a description of myself into a box. If I am asked a question I will answer honestly, so feel free to ask me anything you would like to know in your couch request!
I am a very open minded soul. I enjoy being alone in the world, but I am not antisocial or unfriendly. I like nice people who live and let live (I know that is so cliche')- you know, no forcing of agendas on others. My friends tell me I am funny, quiet, intelligent, curious, loyal, nurturing and adventurous....and a few other things, too.

PHILOSOPHY

We are only here for a short time so make the most of it. We are all connected, take care of eachother as best you can. Money and material things do not define us.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have several sleeping options for travelers, indoors and out.
I live in the middle of nowhere and it is very hard to get here without a car. The nearest major metro area is Spokane and it is 1 hour away. I am able to pick-up and drop off potential surfers with enough notice. This is a very RURAL place- perfect if you want to have a day or three to unwind, rest your road weary bones, hike in the woods, etc. This is a quiet place with lots of wildlife to observe, far from the city and touristy places. If you wish to come here, please keep in mind that it is more of a retreat place than anything.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had three great couchsurfing experiences while I was travelling around Italy in October 2008. These were my first experiences and they really got me excited about the project! All of my hosts were wonderful, helpful and eager to show me "their Italy"....so much better than the tourist traps!

Being a nomad...wandering...dreaming....smiling at people and talking life. I like to help people....in small ways, or big ways if I can. I like being in wondrous natural places, like the mountains, beaches, you name it. I also love learning about history, though I am not very well read on it. For me, I like to see and touch "old" things and imagine what it was like to be there when it was new. What was life like "back then"?

Music...Loreena McKennitt, Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews, Lucinda Williams, Tori Amos... I love live music and hope to hear some when I travel. I like all kinds of music, but not too much rap and hip-hop. I especially love live music in small bars in small towns.
I read a lot. I really like historical novels that give me the feeling of traveling to another time and place. I like to spend time hanging out in book stores reading and satisfying my curiosities about life.
I do not really watch much TV, in fact I don't even have one. Most of the stuff on TV just sad. When I do watch TV I like to see documentaries, nature programs, history programs- things that make me think or teach me something.
I read all kinds of books...stories about other times and places mostly.

The Full Moon rising over the Adriatic Sea...the moon rising over the sea is something never seen on the West Coast of the USA...this is where the moon sets.

I am a fountain of strange, often useless but entertaining information. I like to tell stories. English is my native language and I can help people with English if they want. I am also very good at giving foot massages, so if you like having your feet massaged I am the guest/host for you! (this last statement is not intended to be CREEPY...I do NOT have any fetishes, foot or otherwise)
