About Me

I've been happily married to my wonderful husband for 35 years. We have 3 grown boys. We have been foster parents for 25 years. We've loved to travel the U.S.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been very sick for over a decade but the last few years my health has improved enough that we have started traveling some again. We'd been to most states in the United States before then, but not in the north east. I started couch surfing to be able to travel to Maine from our home in AL. Our 3 week trip to Maine was phenomenal!! I feel in love with couch surfing and the amazing people it brought into your life!

Then a few summers later we headed out west to see some sites we hadn't yet seen. Nevada was the only state I hadn't been in yet (besides Hawaii). So we drove to spend some time at the Utah National Parks. We've now each been to 49 states. We still like to travel and there are plenty of places we haven't seen yet.

Interests

My husband Ken is a teacher and his passion is history. He loves to learn about and teach history, especially colonial times in America. We got to learn so much more about history in the northeastern US on our trip to the northeast.

Ken enjoys riding his motorcycle and bicycle and loves Petra Music.

Music, Movies, and Books

Contemorary Christian music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Survived a life threatening illness, hospice... and lived to tell about it!

Teach, Learn, Share

Phenix City/Columbus has the longest urban whitewater rafting in the world (with a zip line across the same river) within just a few miles of here.

Our home is wheel chair accessible.

We've run an Airbnb business for the last 4 years so we can share our experiences with that also.

Family fun. My husbands amazing knowledge of colonial history. Raising children. We've had about 200 children foster through our home in the last 26 years. Parenting special needs children. We've helped raise almost 20 special needs children with disabilities ranging from down syndrome, to paraplegics, to cerebral palsy... Foster care information (no children or families names due to confidentiality!).

What I Can Share with Hosts

Love of life and learning.
