About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Our aim is to help travellers on there journeys through this beautiful country

ABOUT ME

We are a retiredcouple that welcomes young travellers into our house for 1 to 7 days, and longer if they are enjoying themselves. We accept you for who you are, as long as you accept the same, Don't mind a drink or 2. I like to think that I am a good cook, but am always willing to learn new ways of cooking. We consider ourselves to be a fun couple and do not mind jokesters. We started hosting in 1987, when we lived in Cairns Queensland. (Couchsurfing started in 2004) and we have hosted approx. 2000 backpackers and Cyclists ( We are also members of the cyclist website Warmshowers.com). Our story on hosting is one that amazes our guests, just ask us, when you arrive and have settled in. We do not charge any money for you to enjoy our company.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I used to live in Cairns, QLd, and Maryborough QLd. and while in those places I had the pleasure of young people from all over the world.I would like to experience that again.

Interests

I might sound a little strange in saying this, but. I love my country so much, that I have no interest whatsoever in seeing other countries, not until I see this magnificent country. I have been around it 4 times, but I have yet to see it, I want to take the little or long detours to places that holidayers do not get the chance to see. I feel that I can offer good advice to the couchsurfers that stay with us, regarding there travelling destinations as I have been to most of them. we live in the beautiful village of Maclean, which is 15 klm from the seaside town of Yamba. I am willing to drive our guests to Yamba and the Blue Green Pools at Angourie (where you can go cliff jumping) and pick you back up after you have had your day of fun.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing that we have done is bringing into this world 2 children

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people the things that are dangerous in this country, and we have many, Snakes, Spiders, Sharks And heaps of other things like Drop Bears.(( hehehe)) I can also give advice on the safety of travelling, ie what not to do and where not to go in this great land. We would also expect of the surfer to share their cooking skills with us, we do not mind supplying food for our guests, BUT if you are going to stay for more than one night, we just ask that you cook a meal from your country, which we will supply the ingredients. More than 2 nights, and you would be required to put food in to the household. We would prefer that you stay for at least 2 nights, as one night is never enough time to get to know each other, we understand that sometimes this is not possible.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Happiness, Love, Fun and good cooking. and the occasional drink, if that is what you like.
