About Me

I'm very easy-going. Learning at least a little about everything is a goal of mine. I laugh more often than not, and I love adventure! I am very respectful and pretty quiet most of the time. I do not drink and I do not do any drugs, but if you drink it's not a problem, just please don't get drunk at my house, lol.

I enjoy being outdoors, from just walking around to going rock-climbing, kayaking, exploring abandoned buildings-- you name it. I'm also a former professional e-Sports player, so I might be a little bit of a computer geek ;). I have 16 years of experience in Bujinkan Budo Taijustu (Ninjutsu-- Japanese martial art) and I've trained in Japan many times in an effort to really improve.

Whether hosting or surfing, I have a big emphasis on mutual respect and understanding. It helps to know if you're just looking for a place to crash, or if you actually want to go hang out while you're here. As mentioned earlier, I don't go drink, so don't expect me to go out drinking with you or showing you bars-- it's nothing personal, I just don't do it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Probably the majority of people use couchsurfing primarily as a way to save money. I'm okay with that, just if that is the case for you, please make an effort to be gracious in that I do go out of my way to make any surfers comfortable, but don't expect a 5-star hotel, haha. If you're just wanting to meet new people and hang out, I'm also fine with that!

When I'm surfing, I'm pretty independent so I'm not looking for a tour-guide, though I would never turn down the offer. I like forming relationships with people, so being able to stay with someone rather than just in a hotel room is much more enjoyable (and saves money!)

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to basically all types of music.

Rock: August Burns Red, AFI, Story of the Year, Breaking Benjamin, Flyleaf, Rise Against, Rage Against the Machine, All That Remains, Metallica, ONE OK ROCK, Uverworld, Stereopony, Nightwish, Tonight Alive, Evanescence, ... so many bands

Rap: Lecrae, KB, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Tech N9ne, 50 Cent, a few others

Pop: Taylor Swift (LOL), ... whatever is on the radio.

Basically I listen to everything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

With the help of Tokyo couchsurfing hosts, I was able to train with Soke Masaaki Hatsumi, grandmaster of the Bujinkan Dojo (武神館) in Ninjutsu (忍術) on three separate trips, roughly a month each time.

Teach, Learn, Share

My friends tell me I have a gift for having open eyes and a strong understanding of the world. Whatever the topic, I'll usually have some insight, or be very eager to learn when I don't. I obviously can teach Ninjutsu.

I am very understanding, friendly, and open to various viewpoints, so conversations are great. I already have strong beliefs and opinions, and reasons for all of them, so feel free to ask about anything!
