About Me
📍Figueira da Foz
I have a sofa-bed in the living room which I can make available for whoever would like to spend time in Figueira da Foz. The house is small, but lovely and located in a really nice area. It’s better if you have car to move around.
I teach both European Portuguese and English languages to students from around the globe. Check my LinkedIn @tiagomrdacosta for more! If you’re a foreigner/expat and want to learn Portuguese, let me know!!!

A little more about myself: I'm Portuguese. I was born in Lisbon and grew up closer to the ocean in Cascais. My family comes from a small village in the Portuguese-Spanish border, so I grew up surrounded by the Spanish culture too. Moreover, the majority of my grandparents’ siblings immigrated to France after the II World War and so I have French family too. It’s a nice mix!
In 2015, I immigrated to the United States and lived there for almost five years. I graduated from Southern Utah University during the pandemic—majored in Communications and Media Studies and minored in English Literature. I also exchanged at the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication (2018) and lived that year in Eugene, Oregon. Lived for about three months in East-Timor during summer 2018. Studied photography in Lisbon (2007-2010), and worked as a freelance photographer in Portugal too (2010-2015).
The pandemic brought me back to Portugal, and here I am… living the dream! I surf and practice CrossFit on a daily basis. I like to cook healthy food (mostly vegetables and fish) and drink natural wine or craft beer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For sure the community. When I travel, I say: "I travel, but I am not a tourist." I want to meet local residents, go to local restaurants, lose myself into the local dialects. I want to visit the place from the local's point-of-view and not from a touristic point-of-view.
