About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel the world and get to know its best people.

ABOUT ME

I have had a full life, been to 3 dozen countries and moved 68 times...mainly due to career choices that included logging, fishing, commercial diving, offshore oil drilling, financial advisor, pastor and high voltage electrician. I like to dive, hike, sail, camp, ride motorcycles, climb, gourmet cook, and play, build, repair and collect stringed instruments. I am the only gringo in a Hispanic band.

I have studied the healing arts for years and weekly practice various massage techniques and therapies, exchanging massages and reflexology for acupuncture (also learning it as a lay person) and other body work. Having had accidents in the oil field and logging I can well appreciate its benefits and I'm happy to help others with it.

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy has developed and grown over many years of considering others better than myself, being a servant to others, realizing that everyone has something to add, offer and give. Knowing that every new friend forever changes my life for the better. That following the Golden Rule is not only best for good but the best for me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can do anything if my schedule allows (I work a rotating 12-hour shift that covers all days 24/7 and can work for many weeks without a day off...just recently I completed 35 days without a day off!). I can host (Sometimes) or cook a good meal...maybe even pick up at the airport. At least meet for a drink or coffee!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have travelled the world and met friends and had meals together or stayed with them in England, Scotland, France, Spain, Italy, New Zealand, Australia, Samoa, Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Brazil and all over the USA including Alaska and Hawaii.

Interests

I love adventure travel and adventure sports, but find most of my spare time involves music. I love to buy instruments, repair and set them up, make them if I have time and most importantly play them! I play in a Hispanic worship band plus two rock bands in my spare time. Love hosting "Toast and Jam" at my house (no close neighbors to annoy with loud music!) where we have a potluck dinner, drinks (toasts!) and a jam session in my studio.

I also involve alot of my spare time learning and sharing in healing arts: herbology, reflexology, acupuncture, cranial-sacral, mio-facio pain release, and various massage techniques. I'm always interested in teaching and learning natural healing practices from around the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy most music, especially blues, jazz, rock, metal, regaetone, classical, bluegrass and a little country...if I'm playing it with group I love it all!
Books and movies I like always teach me something, but I really like intrigue, spy and SciFi...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived without power (and running water) near the Canadian border for a decade...now I operate the power grid! I've been in a feeding frenzy with sharks in Colombia; i was lost with 2 others in a sinking inflatable boat offshore Angola; helped feed the largest crocodile in the world in Costa Rica; been on the Yukon River at -70F with 70mph winds; went to the Sturgis Harley rally (twice) on a non-Harley by myself...(sharks were safer!); survived driving through rush hour traffic in New York City (still wonder why I wanted to do that) although Paris and Rio de Janero were worse! Of course the most amazing thing is making friends around the world...and the most fun!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach a few things...especially like teaching guitar or other stringed instruments...or to make them!
Or sharing various massage techniques. The most important thing to me is to be yourself. Be honest. Be open. Be loving and kind. Fear nothing. Try everything (that doesn't negate any of the above!) And most important: Respect Everyone!
