About Me
Hey there,
my name is Tobi. I'm a laidback person who is always up for making new experiences, adventures, traveling and socializing with the coolest people on the planet.
I like to stay active, enjoy good conversations and company, love sharing travel stories and getting to know about anything really.
I have made great experiences through couchsurfing so far and I hope to enjoy a lot more.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
CS made me realize that strangers were friends I hadn’t met before in many ways. I have met awesome people and made the most memorable experiences. I learned so much about hospitality and culture.
I have been very lucky with most people I encountered on CS but I feel we would all do each other a favor by keeping some basic ideas in mind:
- Surfers: please be respectful, courteous and clean (it's not about staying in a hotel for free); show interest in the person you stay with and invest time in writing requests to underline the CS spirit
- Hosts: focus on positive aspects and the experience itself instead of a thousand rules or hidden passwords (even though I do understand the reasons behind that); read requests and profiles carefully and appreciate the person who wants to stay with you; AND there are other useful apps if your primary interest is to get laid...
Interests
I have lots and lots of different interests… it’s basically a little bit of everything:
The most epic time I spend with my family, (new) friends, my girlfriend and people with dry humor. I'm a big fan of music and play the guitar and try to sing. Most of the time I prefer to stay away from mainstream music though and write my own songs as a singersongwriter.
I love to be active, especially go crazy outdoors. Being outside in nature is just magic. I love to go hiking, snowboarding, climbing, …

Music, Movies, and Books
There is way too much good stuff so I'll just give one good example that I like a lot:
Gregory Alan Isakov
Bruce Springsteen Autobiography
Inside Llewyn Davis
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Oh man I wouldn’t know where to start… hitchhiking adventures all over the place, paragliding in Italy, bungee jumping in South Africa, playing music in an Irish Pub on St. Patrick's Day, backcountry skiing in Canada
Teach, Learn, Share
To me, traveling means discovering your personality
as you learn more about yourself by making a difference. Meeting new people and seeing new places makes you so much aware of how great our world is and alive you can feel for the time being there, particularly if you are willing to leave your comfort zone for a bit. I am super thankful for all the great experiences that made me who I am.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook a nice meal, start genuine conversations, have a drink together, go on a hike together, play a living room concert, party when everybody is in the mood, give some basic advice on health-related topics, complain how we could be more sustainable...
