About Me
First, I should say that I've been off couchsurfing for a long while. I hosted a few times while living in San Francisco, but have yet to try it while traveling. Hence, I don't have much of a track record. If you want to learn a bit more, you can check my instagram at https://www.instagram.com/teobidreams/, or I can send you my facebook link.
I have spent most of my life seeking to learn and live fully, to create community wherever I can, and among people coming from many communities. I'm inspired by people that have that sparkle of curiosity in their eyes, that communicates a transparent spirit. I am a full-time artist working in multiple disciplines. I have a studio (painting practice), write, and create/perform in interdisciplinary performances. I have done extensive work within the nonprofit arts sector in the US and with collaborators in Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil. In San Francisco, I founded a multidisciplinary art space called the Red Poppy Art House (www.redpoppyarthouse.org), as well as a neighborhood arts festival, the MAPP. All this is to say, I love being involved in creative work and creative communities!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am traveling in Italy and Greece to explore different cities and towns to see where I may want to base some of my work in the coming years. I am looking for areas where the cost of living is lower, less driven by the madness of consumerism and more focused on quality of life and relationships, a place where I can rent a studio and be able to focus on my practice.
Interests
I love the arts and I love nature. Ocean, sand, mountains, forests, and light, all kinds of light. I am inspired by genuine exchange, people who can't help but be transparent in their passions, true interests, questions, and fears. I enjoy vital conversation, challenging assumptions, but also silence - the simplicity of quiet moments. I like to cook, and love to see family and friends gather around home cooked meals. I enjoy connecting people, particularly artists and creative thinkers outside of the arts engaged in meaningful work. It's common to find me spending an afternoon sipping a martini, listening to Billie Holiday or Charlie Parker on vinyl, while the late sun streams into my studio. I spend most of my time at work - painting, devising music/theatrical productions, and networking/organizing projects that engage the arts among a diversity of communities. And I dance: Argentine tango, salsa, samba/gafiera.. .

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've met amazing and inspired people in my life that have left me transformed by their presence.
At the age of 21, I traveled across the Sahara via Tamanrasset, and was awe-struck by it's immensity. I had a string of strangers take care of me all the way from Morocco, through Algeria, to the Niger border. They demonstrated a generosity that has continued to inspire me throughout my life.
