Informazioni generali
Chi sono
Hi! My name is Ellise Alcantara but people would just normally call me Tom. I'm 26 years old. I grew up in the small town of Taytay, Rizal (about an hour away from the center of Metro Manila, it's actually located in a nearby province) and later studied college in Manila City. I took up AB Psychology and worked as a Human Resource Officer for Recruitment for almost two years. After that, I quit my job to pursue what I really want: to be travel around the world and to be a successful chef someday. I travel both to domestic and international destinations if time and budget permit me. As of the moment, I've graduated from Culinary School and now looking for a career opportunity in the kitchen.
Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing
The first time I heard of Couchsurfing was through an old friend of mine. Since then, I heard more and more of this community mentioned in travel blogs, featured in television programs and published in an article in a magazine. They all said that couchsurfing is indeed a great way to travel to new place, meet new people, and live like a true local. The main reason why I'm here on Couchsurfing is to meet new people from my upcoming trips wherein I can hear their travel stories and share mine as well. I want to travel the destination like a true local.
Interessi
My interests primarily include travelling to both domestic and international destinations, culinary arts, movies, and music. I believe that the greatest food on earth is buffalo wings.

Musica, film e libri
I love to listen to Amy Winehouse, Fall Out Boy, Bastille, Troye Sivan, Haim, Shawn Mendes, Rihanna, Sam Smith, OneRepublic and Coldplay. I like to watch random romantic comedy films, it would take forever to name all those films I like. I used to read Harry Potter series and books on Robert Langdon.
Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
One of the amazing things I've ever done so far was to travel to Seoul, South Korea spending only less than $150! Yes, you read it right! A normal cost of roundtrip ticket to Korea from the Philippines is around $500-$600 already. Despite the fact Seoul is one of the most expensive cities in Asia, I was able to travel and explore with a limited budget for 4 days and 3 nights. This included roundtrip ticket to Korea, travel tax, terminal fee, accommodation, airport transfer, attraction fees, food and beverages, and transporation. Aside from getting a relatively cheap airfare, the airlines even gave me an additional travel voucher. I can fly anytime and anywhere in the airline's destinations for free as long as it's a short-haul flight!

I want to tell everyone that travelling is not a leisure just for the rich people only. You can explore the fascinating destination with a limited budget if you have determination, passion, and dedication.
Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa
I can share all these wonderful and fun stories from my country. I wanna tell the world, the universe rather, that it's truly and really more fun in the Philippines.
