I'm a physics PhD student working in clean energy (nuclear fusion) at a lab near Oxford. I enjoy talking about science, learning about things, and having new experiences! I was born in the Cotswolds, which is stereotypical English countryside, and have lived in Oxford for most of the last 7 years. I enjoy travelling, and most recently got to spent 3 months in California as part of a research project.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
I love meeting people from around the world - one of the things I enjoyed the most about doing my undergraduate degree in Oxford was how many interesting people I could meet. I would like to host because I enjoy showing people around Oxford, and think it's a great city that everyone should see. I would also love to hear people's stories about where they come from, where they grew up, and where they've been.
Music, Movies, and Books
I enjoy listening to classical music, especially classical guitar, but also enjoy seeing a range of bands at festivals and such. I generally like science fiction and fantasy movies and books.
One Amazing Thing I've Done
Climbed up to the smoking crater of the most active volcano in Chile. The air was so thin that our van could only take us half way because there wasn't enough oxygen for the engine! At the top I thought the crater would just be more rocks and dust, but it was a steep drop down into a smoky, sulphorous haze!
Teach, Learn, Share
I have recently become very interested in climate change and activism. I would very much like to meet anyone who has similar interests or background, especially people involved with the science/impacts research. I can also answer pretty much any questions you might have about physics, and I can also tell you about climate change, British politics, space, programming, classical guitar, gymnastics...
