About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy the world and its people while walking around it

ABOUT ME

I drank the Kool-Aid for many years and eventually realized that most of my peers were completely full of crap. Things don't matter, people matter --- but I do have a nice couch and guest beds.

PHILOSOPHY

It's so easy to be nice to people - more people should try it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Trying to figure out the best way to help others in need and providing a safe, comfortable place to sleep is a good start.

Interests

Hiking, Backpacking, environmentalism, clean water, nice people, books, clean air

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy all music with the exception of rap or similar styles like hip hop. Just not my style.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I won a staring contest with a 600+ lb grizzly on a backcountry trail in Glacier NP and walked away unscathed. After the stare down, he walked towards me and got within 20 feet before my partner fired the bear spray. Mr Griz took off up the mountain and I looked around for some new clean pants.

The most amazing thing I have witnessed was the birth of my son. Nothing could have been more amazing or brought me more happiness.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have done a good bit of long distance backpacking and can share a lot of knowledge with travelers on local trails and most major American trails like the AT, PCT, CT and CDT.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I typically travel with my son and backpacking partner (21 yrs old in 2019). We are extremely low maintenance. We are happy to arrive any time at your convenience and leave as early as you need. Any type of shelter with a roof is plenty for us. We typically always have our backpacks, so we already have everything else we need.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, Iceland, Japan, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In
