ABOUT ME

"Always a student, never a master."
I am a second generation Chinese American currently working as a neurological/ psychological researcher in Yunnan, China. My current project revolves around children born HIV positive and the biological and psychological aspects of them living in a stigmatized environment. Heavy stuff sometimes, so I tend to play when I get the chance, by traveling, dancing, or going out. I strongly believe in 'Work hard, Play harder.'

I teach English several times a week, and am fluent in Mandarin and English while being able to handle myself in Japanese and doing ok in Spanish (at least I can still watch La Liga for the most part). I thoroughly enjoy meeting new people with different experiences, and learning new things.

It is both an unfathomable beauty and a deep frustration that there are so many experiences and perspectives in this world, and the best way to sooth the itch to explore is to try to see as much as I can with what I have, helping as many as I can along the way.

PHILOSOPHY

Be as awe(some) as the day permits, and strive to stay away from being awe(ful). Kiss the girl or boy when you get the chance, and never turn down a delicious meal, because 10 hours in the gym is worth 5 seconds of pleasure and a life time of foodie photos.

On a serious note though, kiss that person or take that dive because there's so many times where we devalue the moment by considering all the extraneous aspects and values, until the moment is already past.
I think the only regret that's guaranteed is regret in not seizing the day when you knew that opportunity was there.

I've little experience so far with CS, but every experience I've had, I absolutely cherish.

I'm hoping to be able to host more, and I want to surf for the first time soon!

Interessen

I try to sustain an active lifestyle, with regular gym exercise, breakdancing, and soccer. I also occasionally play tennis, badminton, and dance salsa (novice level). I am an avid movie and book fanatic, and I'm guilty of still reading and watching Japanese animation and manga as well. I have a decent understanding and exposure to art and music, and I love chilling on an acoustic guitar with a few friends. I like going out just as much as I love staying in for a good conversation and coffee. I'm an amateur photographer, amateur videographer, amateur designer, and amateur writer, mostly because I keep jumping around on all the things I want to do.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I've skydived on the coast of Florida, seen live brain surgery, taken a farm child with a disease without the financial means to Disney, eaten bees and snakes, sailed through the sky, sea, and waves, and eaten enough delicious food to have the word 'glutton' tattooed on my forehead as punishment.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I can teach-basic Chinese, English, basic photography, breakdancing, local culture, basic design and workflow, PS/InDesign/ Lightroom, a million interesting facts about your brain, and way too many factoids that make people go 'huh...that's interesting.'
