About Me

I appreciate self-exploration in its diverse forms, alone and with others, for instance through meditation, "Radical Honesty" / "Authentic Relating", Contact Improvisation Dance, Improvisation Theater, Tai Chi, Yoga, eye contact, free hugs and cuddling. I really appreciate spending time in nature by jogging, hiking, bicycle riding or just by sitting down and observing small things. In my home area I love crawling in old cave systems where everything is completely silent and dark.
I appreciate people who are brave enough to show themselves and to feel comfortable with vulnerability, honesty and silence. I find it challenging to appreciate small talk and fear-driven behavior in general. I don't eat animal products (vegan).
I create digital sculptures - check out my website at www.tom-segal.com.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When traveling: I'm a people-based person. I find museums, landmarks, fancy streets and so on nice and interesting and would not mind seeing them, but for me meeting interesting people is much more meaningful.
When Hosting: Basically the same, plus its an easy way to be generous.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'll list a few. I...
- crawled in huge cave complexes deep underground.
- sat on a rock platform in the desert watching the moon while listening to Pink Floyd on my music player.
- ran in the park and watched a family of deer passing by.
- cried from a letter written by a person very dear to me.
- watched capras climb beautiful cliffs in the desert.
- moved to a new country, leaving many good friends and a wonderful family behind.
- engaged and organized many alternative/self-exploration/underground activities, showing me new aspects of life often ignored by most of society.
