About Me

Hi! I'm a 23 year old university student from Utah, USA. I'm passionate about molecular biology and riding my motorcycle. I'll be traveling around Europe this August (2017), and I'm hoping to meet some new friends:)

I'm an American who is ethnically Indian, Austrian, German, and Japanese. I've also lived in Russia. Lifelong exposure to traditions and foods from these and other countries has given me a deep love for the history and traditions of other cultures. I love learning new things and meeting people from around the world.

Hobbies: hiking, motorcycles, cooking, reading, and eating Mexican street tacos.
-I'm half motorcycle-riding adrenaline junkie, half bookworm on a couch with chocolate and a novel.

Overall, I'm a pretty laid back person with a great sense of humor and a flexible schedule. I can make breakfast for you too:) I make an egg-cellent omelet (served with an optional side of bad puns).

Casual gamer (Skyrim and Bioshock), not-so-casual Queen fan.

I love animals, so if you have pets, that's 100% fine by me:)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting new people from around the world, and hearing their life experiences and stories! The diversity of the human experience is amazing.

I grew up in an area that attracted tourists all year long, so I know from personal experience that the best way to truly experience a new place is to leave the tourist crowds behind and make friends with people who already live there.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Classical symphonic, classic rock, Russian pop, symphonic metal, some American pop and indie rock.
-Always looking for new music, I listen to a bit of everything.

Favorite Movies: Mad Max: Fury Road, Master and Commander, Star Wars
I tend to like action/sci-fi movies, but I still love me a good chick flick (While You Were Sleeping is 90's rom com perfection). Pride and Prejudice (the 6 hour BBC version) is also a staple, and my go-to girls' night movie is either Hitch or How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.

Books: Anathem, The Emperor of All Maladies, Fahrenheit 451, The Genome War, Mistborn Trilogy, The Red Planet, Harry Potter 1 & 7, Redwall, Tuesdays With Morrie, Perelandra, The Screwtape Letters, When Breath Becomes Air, One Day In the Life of Ivan Denisovich, Russian lit in general...(talking about books with me is risky, I can go on for days...)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in Russia for a year and a half while on a church service mission. I speak proficient Russian ("fluent" is being a bit generous haha), and have lived in several cities, including Moscow. Every day brought a different crazy adventure, and I fell in love with the culture and people there.

(Bonus amazing thing: Several years ago, I kept track of the same tube of lip balm long enough to use it up entirely, all the way to the bottom. Without losing it once. To this day, I consider it my greatest achievement)

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach:
-If you need help with a biology class for uni, I'd be happy to help out:) I have years of experience tutoring math and molecular/cellular biology, immunology, and genetics.
-I can also teach you some cool Russian phrases and tasty recipes.
-Want to travel to Russia? I can give you some great tips.

Learn:
I'd love to learn anything you want to share with me! Hobbies, interests, tips about local destinations, traveling advice, relationship advice, secret wisdom passed down by your family through the ages... I'm always looking for new things to learn about. Whatever you want to share, I'm an open book:)

Share:
Is there some local thing you've always wanted to experience, but never had someone to do it with? Spicy food challenge at a local restaurant? Weird art museum? Cool history site? Crazy hike? Death-defying rollercoaster? Ancient haunted castle? Let's go!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share an open mind, an adventurous heart, and my life experiences:)

If you're ever traveling through Utah, I'll be more than happy to show you around!

...But most importantly, I can bring chocolate and help wash the dishes.
