ABOUT ME

We are a couple that loves to be active and do anything that gets us outside! We spend our anniversaries backpacking in National Parks (9 visited together so far) and our winters on the ski slopes. We love life and we love to share life with others. You'll regularly find people over at our house playing games, eating good food (or at least good cookies!) and enjoying one another's company.

A few facts about us:

- We love playing games (board games, strategy games, card games, etc) If you know how to play Settlers of Catan or Carcassone or similar, you and Dan will get along. I like to play sometimes, but not as much as he does.

- We love pick up games of soccer and ultimate frisbee and we are always up for some exploring...hiking biking, running, etc. Our house is right next to a 9 mile rails to trails dirt path that is fantastic for running/cycling if that is something you'd like to do.

- Our faith is super important to us

- We care about the environment and we care a lot about people

- Most of our vacations involve sleeping in tents either in the middle of nowhere or with a group of others in tents with a nice fire :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As a staff member with InterVarsity I have stayed in the homes of quite a few hosts at staff training events outside of my city - all arranged by InterVarsity - but all hosts unknown to me before ringing the doorbell! We've also surfed through CS once - a great experience and we look forward to more surfing. We've had the pleasure of hosting through CS, in addition to all the friends who have crashed out our couch/spare bed over the last few years. We don't live in a popular place for surfers to come, but enjoy hosting when we have the chance!

Hiking, Backpacking, Rock Climbing, Skiing, Soccer, Running, Biking, Duathlons, Triathlons...pretty much anything outdoors or active. We are always up for an adventure!

I love to read...Dan...well, outside of his engineering books he has read one or two books in his entire life.

We can enjoy most genres of music but prefer lyrics that aren't explicit. We love to dance around in our living room and kitchen when no one else is watching! Our kids have stellar moves.

I can't remember movie quotes at all and would prefer it if you told me the end of the movie before I watch it. Weird, we know...I'll look up spoilers for movies just so I can "watch the movie stress free." Dan, however, will be highly upset if you spoil the movie for him! He's pretty good with movie quotes and has seen waaayyyy more movies than me.

Powder days in Utah, 20 miles in Zion in a day, climbing Otter Cliffs in Acadia, white water rafting the Gauley during Gauley season in a little four man raft, waking up freezing in the middle of Argentina inside a locked van in the middle of the night while our driver went inside a gas station to warm up with coffee...so many fun adventures.

I (Teresa) can teach basic and intermediate Spanish and how to bake some killer nutella stuffed sugar cookies...I am also a personal trainer so I'll put you through a workout in our basement gym if you want! We are both ski instructors so if you come in the winter and buy a lift ticket we can teach you how to ski! I am also working on learning Russian so would love the practice.
