Overview
About Me
First thing you need to know is that I hate filling in "about me" boxes.
Next thing, I apologise in advance for my forehead. It reacts way before my brain can process what's being asked and decide on a suitable facial expression, which means I always end up accidentally offending new people. My friend Sam promises me that once you're used to it, you will love it. Girls with "resting bitch face", you know where I'm coming from....
Other than that, I'm a 31 year old, happy-go-lucky nihilist with narcolepsy and itchy feet who loves real ale, live music and mountains but hates sitting down for a living and has a tempestuous, love-hate relationship with bread.
Top skills include being able to get anywhere on public transport, making your letter / essay / job application sound clever and always picking the best beer to get in a pub just from the picture on the pump clips. I'm a not-unhelpful addition to any pub quiz team.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The sharing network is a wonderful, massively important concept and I think it's vital for society that it grows. Capitalism is not the way forward.
I've had a profile for ages but either have had no space for hosting, or loads of space but in a place near nowhere, where nobody wanted to visit... I plan on being more involved going forward!

Music, Movies, and Books
Frank Turner is a definite favourite, generally tuned into BBC6 music but I'm happy listening to most things. Saying that, I cannot get my head round dance/grime/dubstep and all that.
Books have always been a large part of my life but the narcolepsy makes reading difficult now and I love movies but it's been a while since I've stayed awake all the way through from beginning to end...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Randomly ended up at the local easter-time festival (Masopust) in a tiny town in Czech called Utenice with the people from my TEFL course. All of a sudden the streets were filled with a marching band, people in costume to begin the parade. The locals had no idea who any of our 30-strong group were and spoke no English but happily welcomed us into their homes with (lots of) food and drink. There was dancing, singing, live music and a particularly surreal hilltop battle against the neighbouring town involving two men in bear costumes...
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm Trinity TESOL qualified, should be practising the ukulele and am a dab hand at a bit of origami.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a tidy and conscientious but easy-going house guest who won't hog the bathroom or take over your entire home. I'm happy to cook for and/or share meals with a host but also just as comfortable doing my own thing if you'd prefer. I sometimes have difficulty staying awake but I'm good if you want to stay up until the inevitable head drop, chewing the fat and/or having a drink
