About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Trying to find more time and mental space to paint
ABOUT ME
I've taken a roundabout way to here. First studied & then taught math & then pursued what felt like true calling, went to med school, became psychiatrist, treated patients for almost 30 yrs, then moved from Seattle to Central Coast CA & decided to slow down, no patients now but still do some forensic psychiatry (all civil, no criminal). That's the work part. Besides that, I'm always trying to learn new stuff. Recently took up oil painting and man, oh man, is that fun! Fortunately husband is good sport about the need to have a space for that which ends up covered in paint. I love to read but can't brag much about that because little of it is edifying. Have tried to teach myself a number of folk instruments with only modest success. I love sing-alongs and jams. I like getting together with friends, preferably in an easy-going spontaneous way.
PHILOSOPHY
We can talk some time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am still relatively new to this organization. However, for decades I have been hosting strangers in the Couch Surfing spirit, mainly musicians passing through on gigs. Figured it's time now to try the surfing end of it but still want to host. If I'm in a good mood, I will cook breakfast.

Music, Movies, and Books
Oh, man, this changes all the time so I could never keep this current. My guilty pleasures include murder mysteries and psychological thriller movies but love indie stuff of all sorts too.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It took a long time but I somehow managed to raise 4 kids who are now fine adults. That's a bigger deal to me than any of the rest.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to have a chance to practice German and Spanish. As for what I can teach or share, shucks, what can I say? I know stuff but I have no idea what would be of interest or use to anyone. A lot of what I know about is pretty dry. Anyone want to hear about the side effects of some new psychiatric medication? Probably not. But I'm happy to share in any way that works.
