About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Escape London, stop procrastinating and work in China.

ABOUT ME

It seems your twenties are for discovering, so whilst others get careers I want to see and understand, but if I can just find a useful and ethical project to get my teeth into I'll be happy!

After 3 years of procrastination I will go to live in China soon instead of just visiting. However, my couch is available until the start of September in London. Hopefully my couch will be available in China too.

PHILOSOPHY

The world will never be perfect but we sure as hell can improve it, and have a lot of fun along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to help people get to grips with London, its a place tourists pay far too much to see, and what they do see is never the real London. (Don't go to Leicester square, please)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The best times I have spent in cities are with people who live there. Recently I visited a friend of a friend in Poland who decided that I should be passed from friend to friend across the country, ensuring I was given amazing Polish hospitality wherever I went!

Interests

I am a culture-vulture and political animal, I love art, music and literature, politics with an environmental/energy slant.

Music, Movies, and Books

Chomsky - the man is a legend. Ishiguro, Raymond Carver, anything on energy politics, Ted Hughes, Margaret Atwood, Graham Green, Ian Mckewan, Paul theroux. Music would have to be alt. indie/electronica, as well as Bach/Beethoven etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Out-drunking 5 Chinese English teachers in Fujian province, and then losing in a rice eating competition to a Chinese army officer.

Teach, Learn, Share

An encyclopaedic knowledge of London's greasy spoons, BYO restaurants, food markets, Sichuan restaurants, Curry houses and Sam Smith's pubs. You won't go hungry or thirsty.
