About Me

I was raised 2 miles outside of a town of 1,800 people in central Illinois... (SMALL TOWN LIVING :) ) I spent 3 months every year with my family in Hawaii.. going to school, learning to surf, learning a bit of hula, and a lot of Hawaiin culture. If I had it my way I would live on the beach in a hammock there... but I think it's a solid backup plan if everything else goes to pot.

I don't like big cities so much but I'm trying to adjust to them...
I talk a lot but I know when to shut my mouth :D

-Gap year and a half (if that's a thing)-
Was supposed to backpack for 5 months... here I am with almost a year spent abroad now.
COUCHSURFING/WORKAWAY make traveling worthwhile

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm traveling Europe and Australia with the goal of immersing myself into a new culture and broadening my world perspective- (Also trying to figure out where to live once I'm done with university ;) )
((The Problem is every place seems to get better than the last))

The best way to travel is with locals-getting to know the people who live in the places so as to skip all the tourist traps. Couchsurfing on/off the website has led me to some of my best experiences abroad- So many perspectives and cultures I've been shown a glimpse into

IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO GROW IF YOU STAY INSIDE YOUR BUBBLE
Get out of your comfort zone- learn something new :)
I've stayed with big families, naturalists, university students, young and old hippies/conservatives, awe-inspiring chefs, crazy travelers, and so many incredible people.
It is not my place to judge, it's only my place to appreciate the experience and learn from it.
Most of my experience is off the website but since discovering- it has made it all too easy to find the people hiding in the cracks of the world.

Interests

I have a lot of energy and I'm a pretty active person- my interests reflect that. I LOVE hiking, I am always willing to take time out of the day to enjoy the sights and sounds of the outdoors.
I enjoy quiet evenings under a blanket with a book in my lap just as much as I enjoy seeing the sunrise after a night out
I'm mostly veggie but I refuse to let any food go to waste- you could call me a garbage disposal ;)
