About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To live as a humanBEING.
ABOUT ME
Ok, here goes. I am a retired fireman from an urban department. I was retired after an injury I got on 9-11. I'm now free to be involved in life rather than death and I'm so very grateful for that. Everybody has those moments in their lives, those perspective changing moments. I do my best to live in a manor that gives honor to those who have gone before me and leave an example to those yet to come.
There was a time when I would define or describe myself in terms of what I did for a job or what I have done or seen. I'm past that now, way too restricting. I now choose to use where I'm going and what I'm going to accomplish as a description of myself. This creates an obvious dilemma, since I have not done or been to these places yet. Hmmm, well I reckon you'll just have to join me to find out then ;)
I have been around the block more than my share of times but managed to never grow up. I love to play in the dirt, talk to fish, hang out at the coffee house. I'm a college freshman, I don't drink, but I love drunks. I have 9 1/2 fingers and tell people that it was the result of a nose picking injury. I have two little girls, three Harley's, a truck, and a tent. Life is good.
PHILOSOPHY
Control is an illusion created by success. All I can do in life is the next right thing, the out come is beyond me. If I take credit for the good, I must take responsibility for the bad. So I take responsibility for myself, the rest is just too heavy. I vote, but it's not my fault if my candidate looses right? So I just live well, share what I have, be grateful for what I am given and do the next right thing. It is not what we carry with us, but what we let go that defines us.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am open to hosting and surfing. I think that surfers must be a culture in and of itself. I love to experience new cultures as well as lands but I'm new to this and don't know all the social norms for surfers. Please clue me in if I make a mistake ;)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've stayed with good people that I've met on the road many times. I have also stayed in firehouses all over the US and UK. I've surfed here some and can't wait to do more. This site is just full of great people.

Music, Movies, and Books
Way of the Peaceful Warrior, Dan Millman.
Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintance.
Other than that I would have to say the book I haven't read yet, movie I haven't seen yet and music, well that is just music to my ears.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One? That's a toughy! Some of the most amazing things in my life are as simple as the perfect cup of tea. Others as dramatic as a 2 month 15000 mile motorcycle odyssey, followed by a perfect cup of tea ;) I have lots of stories, maybe you will motivate me to write a book.
Teach, Learn, Share
Wow, this is heavy. Ok, the best thing for stress and anxiety is to take off your shoes and stand bare foot in the grass. I'm going to do that now ;)
1. Wet dogs shake.
2. To trust is a decision.
3. Not to trust is isolation.
4. Question authority.
5. Take lots of pics. When you're old you might need proof ;)
6. Life is what happens when you're busy making plans.
