About Me

I'm an early-career professor at the University of Virginia. I'm tall and friendly, bookish but conversational, curious and ambitious, respectful and sensitive to others. I'm about to travel to Los Angeles to do research for my book project, on the history of television cartoons. I will be out from mid-morning to early evening, interviewing professors and professionals.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting new people. I'm currently trying to save money, while not teaching over the summer. I am double vaxxed and double boosted.

Interests

I will talk with almost anyone about almost anything. At home, I tend to be low key, working on my laptop, or listening to music on headphones.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've lately been compiling a large playlist of study music, and exploring Americana.

My taste in movies tends towards international, older, and quirkier films.

I read a lot of academic books for my research. I wish I read more fiction, non-fiction, and poetry for pleasure.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living around the country and the world during my education and career. (This may count for multiple things.)

Teach, Learn, Share

I actually am a teacher. I teach and research on a variety of media topics, including animation, marketing, music, and history. I love learning from other people about their life experiences, vocations, and avocations.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am good at helping in the kitchen, both with cooking and cleaning up. My favorite things to cook are Mexican food and Asian food. I like to share a drink and hang out. I will share in some activities. I am very good at being quiet. I will also clean and do odd jobs.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, China, France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Netherlands, United States
