CURRENT MISSION

Tom:I embarked on a world tour in 2008, in the belief that life is short and needs to be lived to the full. I aim to learn and experience much of what the world has to offer and hopefully give something unique back. Lala: travel, learn,get involved!

ABOUT ME

Tom and I met in Thailand almost 4 years ago whilst volunteering at a Permaculture centre. We liked constructing funny looking natural buildings and growing food so much that we stuck around and ended up running the centre for almost 2 years. After that, we set off around SE Asia on bicycles for six months. We came back to England in 2012 and moved to the Lake District, where we have spent the last 18 months, transforming a piece of land into 32 raised veg beds, an edible forest garden and other fun things. Lala is a yoga teacher, while Tom is pursuing his interests in Permaculture.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

T: When the French boyfriend of an ex-girlfriend's friend arrived in London with nowhere else to go, we put him up for a few days and he ended up staying and lived with us for 2 years before we went travelling. He now occupies the master bedroom and is in charge of our flat in London!

Interests

T - Anything I don't know and everything I do.

In truth I can't think of much that doesn't interest me in some way. What else is life about other than learning and growing?

Music, Movies, and Books

Films - I would make a useless critic as I find something to like in so many films.

Music - hard to list, but to give an idea, Massıve Attack - Blue Lines is as timeless as Bob Marley. Grace Jones ıs underrated. Radiohead are already legends. Leftfield, The Prodigy and LCD Soundsystem hit the same spot as Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon and Paul Sımon's Graceland. Young Discıples' debut album is every bit as good as Stone Roses' debut album. Joan Armatrading's debut album was better than Tracy Chapman's. David Bowie, Talking Heads and Blondie were all forerunners.

This is only the tip, but all good...

Books - Whatever I've just read. Crime & Punishment was incredible.
