Hi! My name is Valkyrie, and I appreciate if you read my profile, especially the home section, before requesting to stay! Edit: Haven't updated the home section in ages and have moved since and generally mostly can't host at the moment :( I find it very difficult to write about myself, but I'll try my best. I'm 27 years old, Norwegian, and live in Oslo, (Update July 2023: Currently living at Langhus, about 30 minutes with local train outside Oslo. Close to Ski.)I like to hitchhike, I love animals, and I'm rather chaotic. My life goal is to be kind and compassionate. I love animals, and I volunteer in a cat shelter and a animal rescue organisation. I really like birds, and I've got a special place in my heart for wild birds. Especially seagulls. I also have a lease horse that I visit twice a week, and I've grown up with a plethora of pets. I'm vegetarian, but not a huge foodie really. I like chocolate and sweets, but recently I've been trying to eat a bit more healthy and become a proper functioning adult. A lot of trial and error on that part. I'm not good at cooking, and usually go for easy solutions. I like hiking, generally being outside, and nature. I really hate running, though. I believe true happiness in the sense of hiking can only be found in an Eulerian Circuit. I am fairly introverted and sometimes shy, but also enjoy socializing and chatting. Often I become a bit annoying and never shut up when I feel safe around people. I'm also like, super weird. I do care about animal rights, human rights, the environment, and I generally attempt to be generally kind and thoughtful to the world and people around me. I am not the perfect human I'd like to be, but guess I'll try and work on it. I'm part of the LGBTQ+-community, and I generally try to be open and kind towards strangers of all kinds. I generally prefer interacting with people I got something in common with, and share experiences with different cultures and growing up and living different places, learn about others interests and viewpoints of the world. If I'm home I can usually always make space for a hitchhiker if there's emergency need for a place to bed. I can show you some good climbing trees, my favourite graveyards, good hiking spots, some tourist attractions etc in Oslo and Follo, but if you're a party person I'm mostly not, aaaand drinking outside in Norway is hella expensive. Instagram @flyvendesjiraff Feedback from people that know me, translated into english: «You are certainly full of surprises...» - Ex-girlfriend (2017) «You are very clumsy; like it is no synchronization between your body and brain.» - Another couchsurfer (2019) «When I first met you, you were really shy and quiet, but after I got to know you.. You are not like that at all. You are really weird, actually.» - A close friend, drunk in the moment. (2019) «You're so quick, you remind me of a chameleon that's eating flies! » - Guest from Trustroots (2022) «*Nervous uncontrolled laughter* » - Flatmate when asked to review me. (2022) «Do you seriously want me to give you a review for a webside? » -Mom (2018) (And yeah I do smoke by the way, but not inside obviously.) Update: I'm attempting to quit smoking but it's not going that well really. Update 2: I've quit smoking. Update 3: Well.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing
To meet new people, share life experiences and get others viewpoints on everything. I want to contribute to hosting because I think it's a wonderful opportunity for people to be able to travel without necessarily having the funds to do so, and I generally like to see kindness and friendliness in the world, I guess. I also like to learn about other countries and cultures far and near, and since I don't fly I won't realistically get fairly far away in my life. I'm fairly introverted and sometimes quite shy, and doesn't necessary socialize if I'm travelling alone and staying at hostels, so CS tend to be a great way to meet people as well. Keeping the hitchhiking spirit and tradition alive, the act of trusting strangers and be able to do so became the community is meant to be safe, and to experience that most people are kind, are also great contributors. But yeah if you really just need some shelter for the night, I really get it. Can't offer much space unfortunately, but definitely a safe space to sleep. Totally been in that situation a number of times myself x)

One Amazing Thing I've Done
I walked into a wall and apologised to it afterwards. I once attempted to smuggle a disabled Canadian goose on a train and got caught doing that. I also jumped out in a (small and not deep!) River in October to save a seagull. I've probably done other amazing things too, but that was the first one that popped into my head.
