About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Carpe diem! I intend to go wherever life takes me, making the most of each day, being enriched by new friendships and hopefully enriching their lives in return.

ABOUT ME

I think I’m best described as an old soul, but a new spirit. If I could go back to an era where I’m tearing it up at speakeasies, dancing the Charleston or swinging to the big-band sounds, falling in love over the great jazz standards…I’d do it! My passion for nostalgia and anything classic runs deep. However, I’m here in the 21st century keeping it real and the good news is so far I’ve got a real zest going for it. It takes a lot and I mean a heck of a lot to get me down. I’m upbeat, playful, keen on adventure, travel is my middle name, I’m athletic and all kinds of new experiences excite me. One of my greatest pleasures comes from conversing with new people I meet and letting it inspire me. I probably spend too much time in deep contemplation but I refuse to get overly caught up in anything. I revel in culture; my background is half Italian and part Scottish and English. When I’m not coming up with new ideas & looks for the denim brand I work for, getting out, letting loose and having a good time is a sport for me and I make finding the humor in almost anything a priority. Be warned…I smile and laugh lots! I can lose myself in books, especially poetry but I’m a performer at heart and there is nothing I love more than dance and music. Get me involved in anything related to it and that’s when I’m happiest. What more can I say, life is a many splendored thing and I want to seize all of it.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is not about finding yourself; it’s about creating yourself. The importance lies not so much in what you do but how you do it. Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing and whomever you’re with at any given time, JUST BE there completely. Open your mind to new experiences and challenges and accept all for what it is. That’s right, the good, the bad and the ugly. Something positive comes from everything. In this mad, mad world make every effort to seek the good in all, especially when it get’s tough. Happiness (in most cases) is a choice…choose to enjoy your journey and relish in its’ accomplishments and rewards. It’s my humble opinion that by passionately taking this approach to life, chances are you’ll end up creating the best possible version of yourself.

Music, Movies, and Books

Here are some general themes because I don't know where to begin with a list of specifics.

Movies: all the classics, some musicals, comedy, drama, documentaries, indie films, psychological thrillers(even though I watch them from between my fingers and with my ears plugged)

Music: classical, jazz, swing(somewhat dig electro-swing), standards, soul, folk, singer-songwriter, world music, some classic rock, Celtic rock (if I can get my jig on to it, it's going to be a good time) Note: I love randomly discovering local bands while traveling through new areas.

Books: non-fiction, classic literature, suspense novels, short stories, articles, poetry (love Robert Service!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In August of 2011 my dad was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. 75% of his system was infected with the cancer but thanks to the combination of being lucky enough to have an identical twin brother and modern medicine, a stem cell transplant saved my dad’s life and he has since been confirmed cancer free. The love & support that comes from friends and family is undeniably what got my dad and all of us through this seemingly unendurable and trying process. The story of my dad’s victory over cancer was picked up by the L.A. brand “good hYOUman” and I wrote a piece that for a season was screen printed on the inside of every shirt sold with the goal of creating awareness and inspiring hope. Looking back on this entire experience always amazes me.

P.S. Check out http://www.goodhyouman.com/ …they’re doing amazing things all the time!
