À propos de moi

*** To my future hosts ***

Whether I sleep on the clean floor of a shared space or on the king-size bed of a private room with tub, I always feel honored and grateful to share the spirit of giftism.

If you offer to host me, I will then rely on you! So please try to inform me asap in case your plans or intentions change. :)

CURRENT MISSION

Surf the wave of life.

ABOUT ME

Free spirited and laid-back, I enjoy a very simple and probably unusual life -- you might not guess it from the pictures but this guy has much scientific, managerial and business experience. (No! Really?). Yep! He earned quite a bit of money ... before! I now possess very little (my own choice) and love to surf life.

I stopped hunting for scarce currency (aka money) to explore the art of giftism-- check out this inspiring and grounded presentation if you want to learn more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_QLGvp_stI.

I love eating fresh fruits and vegetables: they make a large part of my diet which I complete with local steamed corn and sweet potatoes, for examples. I dislike industrial food (Jollibee, Mc Donald, but also chemically treated fruits/vegetables, for examples) but do enjoy the company of people savoring regular meals and love sharing a vegan meal prepared blissfully.

Non-smoker, I very rarely drink alcohol -- but again, why not share a locally brewed or homemade beer, or some tuba (fermented sap from coconut tree)?

PHILOSOPHY

Mmm - Live in conscience - Blissipline - Freedom lover - Go hack yourself.

Oh, mon ami Valentin m'a fait le très beau cadeau de cette vidéo qui vous en apprendra un peu plus sur ma façon de voir la vie: https://youtu.be/aTDYwJcM2wg. :)

MY CURRENT ASPIRATIONS

Find a mentor to guide me into sharing the most humble ways of living.
Practice Systema (the Russian martial art).
Freedive to 25-30 m.
Explore tantric relationships and human beauty.

NOTE

The guy holds an engineer and Ph.D. degree. Formal education does not matter much to me. Some of the most beautiful and amazing human beings I have met never went to college or even high-school. They have taught me a lot and in many ways remain my mentors.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I love to meet sovereign and free people -- they give me strength and bring me joy. I make myself deeply available to them. I feel honored when they invite me to journey, explore and create together.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would really love getting a taste of your passion. What about sharing a meal if you like fruits and vegetables, telling me a little bit about what makes your eyes shine?

Happy to offer you a particular perspective of the Philippines: let's go for some hikes through rice fields, forests, small villages, beautiful beaches. Can also show you some caves (with bats, lovely creatures!).

Looking for a place to hang your hammock, to take a shower, connect to Internet? I could help out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have really enjoyed hosting CSers and other travelers as our paths crossed. I see it each time as a small adventure and a beautiful opportunity to surf life together for a moment.

Roman made a great video of his stay in Catanduanes, check it out: https://vimeo.com/143169280. Beautiful gift Roman, thank you so much!

Met James back in Feb. 2011 and felt honored by his blogpost: http://journeyingjames.com/2011/02/catanduanes-misadventures-iii-a-cancelled-bike-ride/.

I fee also so grateful to those who have hosted me and with whom I have shared amazing moments: Bogdan, Geoffroy, Abdi, Kimaya, David, Ehra.

And a long, long time ago, before CS or even the WWW existed (wow!):

3 young French men were cruising Scandinavia. On one dark and very rainy night in rural western Norway, they did not find the courage to set up their tent and decided to seek shelter in a barn -- one of them also started to suffer from lower-back pain. So, when the light of a farm finally appeared in the rain and darkness, they bravely went knocking on the door. A man in his 30s opened and quickly called his young teenage daughter to help translate what these 3 strangers were mumbling.

-- What, sleep in the barn? No way! he finally said. You will sleep in the house with us. Come in!

With the help of his young children, he quickly arranged a room, while his wife started to prepare a diner. I will never forget that experience.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Enjoy a very wide range of music and artists but not very keen on "commercial stuff". Would not hesitate to put out the sound system to celebrate life with some wild dancing and with whomever wants to join. I would love to listen to what carries your soul away or makes you jump on your two feet and move.

I also very much appreciate silence -- you won't find me eating or walking around with music blasting and I stay away from smoky & loud karaoke parties.

Books and films? Yep, many, but now in moderation.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Just one? You must be kidding!

Met some outstanding, beautiful and kind people.
Travel in the eyes of others.
Tantric massage.
Desert hikes in Big Bend (Texas).
Seminars in Collective Intelligence and Evolutionary Boot Camp (http://noubel.com/evolutionary-boot-camps/)
Vipassana meditation retreat (https://www.dhamma.org/en-US/index).
I developed in my 20s a spatial representation of chemical reactions based on spectral data (seriously). Still find this clever and fascinating (nerd!).
2 months of life surfing in Kolkata (India)
Barefoot hiking (in snow too)
Learning to hike in thick forests with leeches
Learning to freedive to 20m.
