Overview
About Me
I am Vincenzo, 28 year old guy from southern Italy.
More than everything else I love good music and I am always interested in suggestions about songs, tracks, bands, composers and so on. I'm also really much into cinema and theatre and I enjoy conversations about arts, performance, history, culture and politics.
In the last 5 years or so I've become passionate about hiking and travelling to discover hidden gems in southern Italy. Hiking in the surroundings of my hometown, Cosenza, became a way to take back the perception of distances, of the vastness of nature as well as of the human time.
I think travelling has much to do with people and food as well. I mean, you cannot really say that you have been in one place if you've never spoken with someone who lives there (also about silly things like his/her favorite cartoon when he/she was a child) or if you've never tried some traditional dish. Either I like it or not, trying the local food is the most cheerful way to sneak into the spirit of a place from the backdoor.
I am that kind of guy who makes everyone else feel better, either because I am actually funny and lively or because I make plenty of unsuccessful jokes where nobody laughs :D
I can cook a cheesecake with white chocolate and pistachio. People say it's delicious, but what I know is just that I was really in love with someone when I cooked it for the first time :D
In the last years I've become skilled in cooking some traditional Italian dishes (in my portfolio I also have a couple of veggie friendly recipes that carnivores love nonetheless).
Last year I lived in Brussels, Belgium and I worked as a trainee at the representation of an Italian region. Now I am about to move to France for a new experience.
Pretty sure I will miss belgian fries when I'll be somewhere else.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As I've just said, travelling has much to do with people and food as well.
This is why it's a long time ago that I last booked a private room in a hotel.
Now I'd rather sleep in a hostel where I can meet new people or at friends' places where I can enjoy a familiar, cosy and warm atmosphere.
Couchsurfing is a great opportunity to combo the two things: meeting new people and hopefully spend some time in a familiar place.
I don't mind to spend long time alone, especially when I am hiking, listening to music, walking in the streets or travelling, but I love to share these experiences with people afterwards.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One morning I woke up when I was in my early twenties and I learnt how to whistle in a heartbeat. I've never stopped to whistle when I walk in the streets ever since.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach languages (Italian for sure!) and share some recipes, some history of Italy and Europe, ancient history, legends and myths.
I also have a lot of tales and anecdotes about me, my friends, people I know and so on.
