About Me

My fiancé Jaret and I live in Norman, OK and we are very excited to host new friends who want to go hiking or just have fun going to fun local places. We live in a quiet residential neighborhood a few miles away from OU (University of Oklahoma - Norman), a 5 minute drive away from main street in Norman: pubs, restaurants, art walks and theaters, and a short 15 minute drive away from Lake Thunderbird.

Oklahoma has a lot of interesting and controversial history that should not be forgotten, including the great "Land Grab" and the forced relocation of the Eastern Woodlands Native Americans who ended up in Oklahoma via the Trail of Tears. This trail is still maintained and spans across nine states.

If you are into backpacking and hiking, we live close to several beautiful and interesting places:
-15 minutes from Lake Thunderbird (and we now have a canoe!)
- 2 hour drive to the Red River ( and our secret camping spot)
- 4 hour drive to the Ozark National Forest
- 5 hour drive to the Ouachita National Forest
- 2 hour drive from Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge (See roaming buffalo!!! If you let us know 3-4 months in advance we can book primitive camping passes for up to 4!)
- 2.5 hour drive to Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge

Note: We have lived here for one year, moved from San Diego in Aug 2017, but we are always discovering new and fun places and appreciating the beauty around us, and we are always happy to do so with new couchsurfing friends!

We look forward to hearing from you!
