About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am working toward leaving a positive impact on the planet. I am in the process of redefining my life and am working on education and practicality to help in the battle for healthy and clean water for all the earth.

ABOUT ME

I am a seeker of life. I have traveled and lived across the U.S. and in Europe. I have been called a gypsy and to me that is a good thing. There has always been too much to see and do to become too settled in one place.
I have always been interested in environmental issues and I recently completely my BA in Environmental Studies followed directly by graduate school in Urban Environmental Leadership. I am interested in doing my part in the urgent problems around clean water for all and the abuse of the sources we have. When I complete graduate school in 2012, I plan to go where I can be the most useful in my efforts.

PHILOSOPHY

I enjoy the outdoors and need to feel a part of it in order to recharge on a regular basis.
I believe that everyone and everything on this planet is equal and should have the right to life and the necessities for it. It may sound corny, but I believe in the "golden rule" and try to treat others as I would like to be treated.
I do not understand all the greed and corruption in the world. Why do so few need so much at the expense of the many? Even in the face of this, I try to stay optimistic and see some good in all situations, but to still be aware of what is happening in the world around us.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I live in a wonderful cooperative of 10 like-minded conservation and socially conscience people. We have guests and visitors, including couch surfers stay with us on a fairly regular basis.
I would like to be able to do the same and meet more like minded people in my travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I have never officially couch-surfed. I have stayed in homes of friends of friends for many years now, but there was not an official network regarding this when I began traveling this way in the 70's.

Interests

Travel has always been a great love of mine. I have done some, but would always enjoy doing more whenever the opportunity arrises.
I love the outdoors so enjoy hiking, sailing, and feeling a connection to nature in general.
I enjoy most forms of expression have always gravitated toward artistic-types with a particular admiration for dance in all forms.
I like to cook and experiment with local fresh foods.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am not an avid reader. I seem to stay buy in other respects and while I watch practically no TV the internet takes too much of my time.
I like most music if it is done well, particularly blues and jazz. Lately I've been interested in classical and flamingo guitar.
My movie taste is broad as long as it is done well with the exception of extreme violence which I can do without - there is too much of that in the world as it is.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I looked out my living room window one day to see the v-formation of a flock of pink flamingos honking and flying over the Mediterranean.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have had so many wonderful experiences in my life so far with traveling and meeting various different people and I look forward to following along on this path in the future.
I learned a great deal about sustainability and basic lessons on the value of life while living aboard a 100 year old sailboat on the Mediterranean.
