About Me

In 2017 my husband and I made the leap and moved to Charles Town, WV to escape the traffic of northern Virginia. We love it out here! Working on building our network of local friends now. The Eastern Panhandle is still technically the DC Metro area - it's the furthers west you can go and still consider it the area. A lot of people who live out here commute into DC daily. This is also the only area of the state that John Denver's Song "Take me Home" is actually about.

While I spent most of my 20's traveling as often as I could, we've settled in a little more and splurge on big trips roughly once a year. We just took friends to Germany and Austria in may 2018 who had never been and showed them some of our favorite spots in Munich, Vienna and Salzburg.

I work full time remotely in medical education. My husband still commutes into Northern Virginia. On weekends we can be found at local wineries or breweries, hiking in the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains, visiting the local farmers market, or taking a trip into DC for a Nationals game, museum, or just for dinner with friends. We're looking forward to getting out on the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers.

Our home includes 2 cats and a year-old German Shepherd.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My husband and I love to travel and meet people around the world. You can't really get to know a place unless you get to know the people. I've had some amazing adventures with people I met in hostels around the world and decided it was time to start with couch surfing. We're more likely to seek out locals to hang out with when we travel over a home to stay in.

We like to be local tourists, too and would be glad to show travelers our area. We host friends often and are open to hosting others who are coming through the area.
