Chi sono

CURRENT MISSION

To find out how to live a life

ABOUT ME

A searcher rather than a finder, doer but an (over)thinker at the same time. Curious in a way of a little child - I have to touch a candle and burn myself to learn something. Most of the times I do that two or three times in a row - just to be sure it really works that way.

I try not to fall into the claws of everyday life and well-known paths of life dictated by society (although I'm studying and working as a techaer at the moment... I think I have kinda sucked recently in non-conformism...). I don't like conventions. I try to shorten the distance between me and other people as fast as possible (which has it's cons when trying to teach a group of middle-school girls - you just can't make them study when you're friends with them...).

I love sports - both actively and passively. I can talk about them, I can do them but I can also don't mention them if you don't like them :). But if you do something that contains moving your body - I'm up to it!

I love trying new things whatever they are (even if it's aforementioned touching the candle). So if there is something crazy or dangerous you want to do but you're just too shy or afraid - tell me, doing that together will be easier.

And, most importantly if you want to surf my place - I love my own city and I can tell you quite a lot about the history, architecture and it's people. I can show you some fine bars and restaurants (cheap as well as expensive) or cafes. I can take you to places not mentioned in the guides. Just try it! ;)

PHILOSOPHY

Money is nothing when you spend it mindlessly on thing you don't need. Knowledge is nothing if yo don't pass it further and nobody benefits from it.

Your best memories lie outside your comfort zone.

It doesn't matter what other think. What you feel does.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I use CS almost everytime I travel (I think I haven't done that only once since signing up) and I try to host, although it's a little bit complicated in my current situation (living with mom and so on). I also attend meetings from time to time, mostly during my trips but not only.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've started surfing, hosting and attending meetings in summer 2011 and have done that more less regulary since then. Earlier I've used a joint account but things changed and now I use this single one. Here's my old profile:

Oh, and I've introduced one of my CS guests to a non-CS friend of mine. They have been a couple since 2012 :).

Interessi

Well, here starts a long list...

Sports (running, football, weight lifting, rock climbing, cycling - those I do myself, but I am also interested in a lot more), dance (ballet and contemporary) japanese culture, my home city - Warsaw, music (I used to play drums, would love to come back to that), literature (ah, to become a writer...), hitchhiking, doing stupid things, healthy nutrition, street art (another thing I would love to come back to...), urban exploring (occasionaly, unfortunately), video games (not a geek with a huge knowledge, just love playing them) and I've probably forgot about tons of stuff...

Musica, film e libri

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of time to read, watch or listen but...:

Books: Japanese authors (eg. Mishima), Irvine Welsh ("Skagboys", "Ecstasy") some sociological/antrophological/similiar stuff (Paul Mason, Renata Salecl, Stefan Chwin recently), poetry (Polish mostly but I love Scottish author Robert Burns for example), some books about sports. I used to read quite a lot of fantasy but lost interest.

Music: http://www.lastfm.pl/user/Wakaru1991 It varies so much... Just check it. I recommend checking stats for the last year, since it tends to change a lot. Though musical "Notre Dame the Paris" was and will always be my personal favorite.

Movies: Fight Club (Tyler Durden and Marla Singer), Phineas&Ferb (cartoons, yay), Batman Trilogy by Christopher Nolan (ok, I'm another Joker fanboy, sorry for that... But Tom Hardy as Bane was really cool as well!), Gladiator, Unmade Beds (Alexis dos Santos), Hunger (by Steve McQuinn), those come to my mind first.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

I've been to a few rooftops, most important of wich was that of an abandoned old hotel in the strict centre of Warsaw.

I've hitchhiked 1000km away from home alone during winter (it wasn't a harsh winter however).

I've finished half-marathon.

Insegna, impara, condividi

I can teach you quite a lot about running and other sports as well as about injuries and nutrition. I can teach you some languages or something about Japanese culture. I know quite a lot of recipes (I love baking cakes) and I am quite good at cooking something out of nothing and budget cooking. I know how to hitchhike so if you would like to try it I can give you a lot of tips.

I would love to learn how to dance, sing, draw and swim. I would also really want to learn juggling (with anything) or any similiar performative art. New recipes are always welcome. But if you do anything unusual I would love to try it myself as well.
