About Me

CURRENT MISSION

There are so many personalities and experiences from all over the world that I love to learn from. People that have done the most spectacular things, seen the most beautiful locations and lived in bizarrely inspirational ways.. I want to hear the stories!

ABOUT ME

*whew* I never like filling these things out. But okay, so I've just moved to Auckland from a very small town in the South Island and I'm looking to make new friends around here the best known way I could: couchsurfing =) I was a couchsurfing host in Invercargill as a student for 2 years and had a blast but I've never had the opportunity to try the surfing side of it so here I go. I've learned first-hand that the couchsurfing community is made up of some particularly wonderful people and if I'm lucky enough, I hope to get the chance to meet some of you here in Auckland! Furthermore, my current living arrangements are temporary so I'm going to throw out the second request; if you've got a spare room to accommodate a border/flatmate, hit me up because I'm a friendly guy, easy-going and I love to cook =) and just in case you're unsure about a new person living in your space, my job requires me to be on 6-10 week placements around New Zealand and I only come back to Auckland for a few weeks at a time before getting sent away again. I would naturally pay for rent or board all year round (including the time I'm away) just because I need a place to come back to when we've finished a placement, so I'll be no bother at all. How cruisy is that?! But that's enough about me, I can't wait to meet you! Let me know if you're free to catch up sometime or if I could couchsurf at your place for a night (Have a potluck dinner or something)... Hope to meet you soon!

PHILOSOPHY

Don't only practice your art, but force your way into its secrets.

I'm not entirely sure... I'm still trying to determine a main objective in life but taking it as it goes is more than enough in the meantime to keep me busy and happy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

For 2 years I hosted couch surfers in Invercargill and loved every moment I got to spend with all of the wonderful people I met. The job I've just taken on doesn't allow me to host but it allows me to travel New Zealand and meet other hosts around the country. Even though I have accommodation during a placement, I get to meet people in various towns and cities around New Zealand through couchsurfing.org. This really is a brilliantly vibrant community of individuals =)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just too good. Couch-surfing is a lifestyle... a culture even, and the people that represent it are fantastic. Fascinating and quirky people that never fail to impress. My experience as a host has been brilliant! I love spending time in the kitchen with surfers: It's inevitable! Cooking together and sharing meals is one of the most comfortable and relaxed ways of getting to know one another, AND more often than not, the easiest way of trying new things (without leaving the house) =P

Interests

All kinds of things. I'm discovering new interests as I meet new people and lately, I've been meeting a lot of new people so there are too many to list haha. Long-term, however, I'm a pianist but all kinds of instruments interest me, I learned Japanese for a long time and although I've forgotten most of it, I'm starting to pick it back up again. I like the idea of painting but I'm not very good at it so I go to galleries and look at other people's instead. Movies (esp. Anime), Books, concerts, shows, philosophy, religion (in general)... bla bla bla etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Most of everything amazing that I've seen and done has been with friends and/or strangers. I don't know if those amazing things would've been AS amazing without them but I'm extensively grateful to them all for every single one of those moments. It's often just getting out with people and absorbing the sights, tastes and smells of somewhere new; going on adventures and letting the earth rejuvenate my scattered mind. It's never the same, but it's always amazing.
