About Me

CURRENT MISSION

plant some roots in my new town - Austin, Texas :)

ABOUT ME

I grew up in the midwest and my brother calls me a hippie granola freak (whatever that means). To anyone else I am just someone who likes traveling, am interested in meeting people from different places, with different backgrounds and cultures. I like to cook, relax, be outdoors, meet new people, dance, read, learn new things, adventures, and really anything else you want to throw at me. I am very laid-back and easy going and am down for pretty much anything. Most of the time I prefer a drunken evening filled with cool people and good conversations over a night at the club...but I can be convinced otherwise.

PHILOSOPHY

"If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart. " - Nelson Mandela

“If you reject the food, ignore the customs, fear the religion and avoid the people, you might better stay at home.” - James Michener

"The use of traveling is to regulate imagination by reality and instead of seeing things as they could be, to see them as they are."

"You may not be her first, her last, or her only. She loved before she may love again. But if she loves you now, what else matters? She's not perfect- you aren't either, and the two of you may never be perfect together but if she can make you laugh, cause you to think twice, and admit to being human and making mistakes, hold onto her and give her the most you can. She may not be thinking about you every second of the day, but she will give you a part of her that she knows you can break- her heart. So don't hurt her, don't change her, don't analyze and don't expect more that she can give. Smile when she makes you happy, let her know when she makes you mad, and miss her when she's not there." - Bob Marley

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I heard of this site through my friend and roommate who is a member. We were living together in Ayacucho, Peru as we worked as volunteers for a non-profit micro-finance institution. The people that we have had stay at our place were awesome, so I decided I wanted to be a part of the network. I am not traveling with a different friend through southeast Asia and am hoping to have just as good of experiences as on the other side of the network as a surfer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted couch-surfers with my former roommate but have never surfed myself.
