Overview
About Me
I'm a student working toward becoming a teacher, but the call of the road continues to pull me away. Right after I graduated high school I joined a national service program called AmeriCorps NCCC (think domestic PeaceCorps). I want to be able to meet new people in my travels, if I'm not doing that then the the trip loses half its purpose. I'm a fairly inexperienced traveler compared to so many others, but I'd like to expand my travel portfolio.
I've noticed a lot of other couchsurfers state their philosophy so I would like to state mine with a quote from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, one of my favorite stories.
"I can't go back to yesterday, because I was a different person then."
-Lewis Carroll
We are constantly changing every single day. Who you are is not a constant, and that's a good thing. That is growth.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I joined Couchsurfing with the hopes that it might give me a greater means to go out and travel. Also I want to meet people. Hopefully people that I can stay in contact with beyond my travels.
Interests
I enjoy photography, so any trip I go on, it's sure to be well documented. Traveling is likely a given for anyone one here, and I am no exception. I truly love traveling, and I feel I don't do it enough. I also love telling and listening to stories so let's share.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite band of all time is Of Monsters and Men. They were the first band I saw live so they will always hold a special place in my heart (probably one of those tubey parts of my heart, what's that called? The aorta?). I like a lot of those new folky bands, but I like to think I have a semi-diverse taste in music. I love lots of different movies my favorite being the old animated classic Alice in Wonderland. Also Harry Potter, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Godzilla, the list goes on and on. As far as books go I am sadly not very well versed, I lack the patience to sit down and read. Some books I have worked through such as On the Road by Jack Kerouac and Wild by Cheryl Strayed; both are pretty good reads for those with a rambling soul. Others I have listened to on audiobook like the Harry Potter series and the Hobbit. I'm hoping to keep up with the audiobooks and gradually expand my literary knowledge.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One thing I did that I consider amazing was this. While I was in AmeriCorps a friend and I jumped off a rock about 30 ft high (it at least was high enough for me to be scared I might hurt myself) and landed in a pond. For me it was pretty amazing because I am mildly afraid of heights and the water, so putting them together made it a fear of above average intensity.
You know what? I would even consider joining AmeriCorps to be pretty amazing. I had never been away from home for such an extended period of time. It was hard, and I started to get cold feet the day before I flew out, but with the help of a rousing pep talk from my dad I was able to go through with it, and I am so glad I did.
Teach, Learn, Share
Honestly, I can't really say what I can teach you. I'm still at a point in my life where I am not sure what I am talented in. I've never really been able to commit myself to mastering a skill. There are a lot of things I would like to learn. I want to be better at drawing, I want to be good at playing the harmonica, I want to write better, yadda yadda yadda. All I can really share is who I am. I'm a nerdy twenty something year old from Texas. Nice to meet you.
