About Me
I was born and grew up in China. After getting my master , I had taught in a middle school for three years in China. Later I applied to PH.D program and got accepted. Last year(2017) I came to Duke University as a visiting student. Now I am finish up my research at Duke and getting ready to head back home . But before that , my friend and I decided to take on a road trip in the US to appreciate some of the spectacular views and hopefully meet new people along the way.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Even though I just registered on the website, I had some couchsurfing experience in China. One of my friends is an experienced couchsurfer, when I traveled with this friend of mine in China a few years ago , he introduced me to this new way of traveling which has been by far my best traveling experience ever. At that time, I didn't have an account on couchsurfing website , so I kind of tagged along with him. He sent out the requests for both of us , the couchsurfers he sent requests to agreed to host both of us with great kindness and hospitality, though I was not really a couchsurfer . The hosts showed us around and took us to the places where only local people would go so that we got a sense of authentic local culture instead of just focusing on the tourist thing. Up until now, I am still very grateful to those hosts for their kindness and trust. So to me, couchsurfing is so much more than mere sightseeing, it's more about meeting new people, forming friendships. I always enjoy interacting with people from different backgrounds, I find it very satisfying and meaningful, It challenges my world view, brings in me new perspective and urges me to see things from different angles . I believe the couchsurfing offers much more than what you can ever expect from the traditional way of traveling. That's the reason I am on couchsurfing
