About Me
I hate writing these things....it's so easy to sound douchey you know?
Anyway, My name is Yuliya, originally from Ukraine, but I have lived in New Zealand/Australia for the past 13 years. If I had to describe myself I would say I am loyal, honest (at times brutally), fun-loving, quirky and adventurous Gal. I see myself as easy-going and adaptable to any environment, a skill that I value a lot during my travels. I love British Comedy (Jimmy Carr, Jake Whitehall & Noel Fielding YES), action films, panel shows, addicted to QUIZ UP, and worship Game of Thrones.
Travel is a really crucial part of my life, and I try to go somewhere new every year. In 2014 I completed an academic semester abroad at the University of Exeter (UK), which was really fantastic. Living in Europe I also enjoyed the perks of geographic proximity and spent my summer in Ibiza, Barcelona, Madrid, Marrakech, Athens, Amsterdam, Paris, Zadar, Split, Florenace, Venice, Cinque Terre, Pisa, Rome, Moscow and Odessa (all in 3 months!). I am planning my 2015-2016 Euro-Trip so if you have any suggestions do let me know!
Being Eastern European I am a pretty decent cook although the past few months I have really gotten into using my Thermomix (if you don't know what this is, it's the equivalent of all in one cooking machine).
I hope this will be a great way to make some amazing new friends from all across the world and hopefully visit them in the future.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting new people, hearing about different experiences and learning more about people's backgrounds. I would love you to teach me something in your language! I’d love to show people around Brisbane or any of the surrounding areas, like the Gold Coast.
If you need a couch to crash lemme know :)
Interests
I'm a pretty chill person, but I do love going to new bars, restaurants and clubs to check out what's new and amazing. I love chats, fine-dining, watching movies, the theatre, going out with friends and GOOD coffee in the morning. I live right in the City, so it's easy for me to go exploring along the Brisbane river and surrounding areas. I enjoy going to museums and art galleries and pretty much anything new and exciting. I am pretty passionate about health and fitness, fashion, shoes, yoga and the beach. I can have a good time chilling out at home or out at a new bar opening. Whatever goes!

Music, Movies, and Books
I love a good story, something that's painfully tragic or unbelievably beautiful in meaning always gets me. Off the top of my head, I do love Asya, by Turgenev. Sucker for the deadly romance.
I can watch almost anything given my mood, and I find some things inappropriately funny. Death at a Funeral is always a goodie.
My music tastes seem to vary depending on what mood I’m in- from orchestral (when I'm in study mode) and classical, to indie/ electro/ pop/ dub. I’m interested in finding out what other people like and maybe trying out some new things.
I’m always open to any suggestions you have!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have ridden a Camel along the beach in Morocco. It was AWESOME.
I also loved snorkelling in the Bahamas, kayaking in Jamaica, scaling the Eiffel Tower and enjoying a hike across Plitvice National Park.
